It had been nearly two years since Kailey Anderson had been reunited with her family. In those two years, a lot had happened. First, she found out that the love of her life was still alive shortly before they were attacked by Devils and a Demon. Her brother fell in love with a human woman who just so happened to be the granddaughter of the man who had helped the whole family escape the Demon World without even realising they were family. And all this within the first few days of reuniting...

Needless to say, those had been the most eventful days of the past two years. Still, other things had happened. Such as four of her brothers moving out of the mansion, leaving only her, Sam, Mika and Luka. It had been devastating for Kailey when they'd mentioned that they were leaving but, after several weeks of convincing, she finally caved.

The situation had also caused a small kerfuffle over where Kailey and Luka would be staying once they all parted ways. Of course, Sam and Mika had been more than happy to let the two stay with them but part of the reason why the boys were leaving was so that Sam and Mika could have some privacy and it was deemed unfair to make them look after 2 teenagers as well. In the end, it had been decided that it would be easiest if the pair stayed in their home but visited the others every few weekends though there was no strict schedule.

The only downside was that there was less stability in the teenagers' lives, though that was hardly anything for them to complain about. They were just happy to be together and to get to see their family often.

Their family which had actually extended in the past years, not due to any new children being born- though that was certainly a possibility. No, instead it was because two of her brothers were married and the other two were engaged, to be married within the next few months. Kailey had initially been thrilled at the introduction of her sisters-in-law but that excitement had died down a little after having met them. Or rather, one of them in particular. Not James' wife- Iridessa- who was quick-witted and kind, a perfect match for her eldest. Nor Matthew's fiance- Noryn- who was sweet and bubbly, also a perfect match. Damien's fiance- Twyla- was loving and probably the sweetest person Kailey had ever met (which was truly saying something). They were all great and Kailey was so happy they were joining the family.

It was Erik's fiance- Irene- she had a problem with. She was nice enough and she made Erik happy so Kailey could at least tolerate her. Plus Kailey knew that she did genuinely love Erik which was good. Irene's only problem was that she was quick to get jealous whenever Erik was affectionate towards any other women- this, unfortunately, included both Mika and Kailey. It was something which didn't go unnoticed by the others but, considering she always apologised and never did anything extreme, this behaviour was always forgiven. That didn't stop it from bothering Kailey to no end, to the point where even Luka sometimes had to remind her to tone it down.

"El, you've been scowling down at that same question for the past 5 minutes which means either you've gotten stuck on it or you're daydreaming about something or someone you don't like," Luka said pointedly, chucking a scrunched-up piece of paper so it landed on Kailey's book.

She turned her scowl upwards to where he was sitting at their desk. He had twisted around in the seat to look at her and she tried to ignore how gorgeous he looked with his head propped up by his arm as it was draped over the chair.

Still, he noticed the small blush that blossomed over her cheeks and smirked.

"What are you staring at, hm?" He asked, his voice low.

She paused, taking a moment to compose herself, before scoffing and chucking the paper ball right back. He caught it in his free hand with ease, a gesture that set butterflies flitting in Kailey's stomach. He smirked, raising a singular eyebrow.
