"Hey, you know you've never told me how you and Luka met," Mika said, glancing over at Kailey from where she was sprawled out over her bed, her hair dangling over the side.
The two had decided to spend the day together, a special "girls' day" just for the fun of it. They spent the day chatting about whatever and just being stupid, much to the boys' amusement as the shrieks of their laughter echoed through the house.
Kailey huffed at the question and sat up from her position on the floor, leaning on the wall to support herself.
"There's not much to tell really... Our fathers were having a meeting and I guess Luka couldn't be trusted over at his house so he was brought to mine. He wasn't allowed in the meeting so he went off to explore and found me," Kailey said, shrugging slightly.
"Seriously?! Do you mean to tell me that your epic romance started because your dads were having a boring meeting??" Mika exclaimed, dramatically sitting up to gape at Kailey.
"Pretty much... We just got along then and there, it's not some film scene or anything..." She said nonchalantly, shrugging again.
Mika continued to gape for a moment longer before standing and rushing out of the door with a childlike grin.
Kailey groaned and ran after her, not only dreading whatever Mika was about to do but also hating that she had to leave her comfy spot on the floor. She caught up with Mika right as she entered the dining room, practically beaming as she spotted Luka sat at the table.
He looked up from his book, smiling politely at Mika and trying -but failing- to mask his confusion, especially as a mildly exasperated Kailey entered the room after her.
"Hey, guys..." He mumbled, furrowing his brows in confusion.
They mumbled a quick hello back before Mika began rambling about why she came here.
"Kailey's refusing to tell me how you guys met, so now I'm asking you because I'm sure it's way more adorable than she's letting on. All she's saying is that your fathers had a meeting so you guys saw each other there," She said, glaring a little at Kailey.
She rolled her eyes at Mika, promptly dismissing her glare before turning to Luka.
"She refuses to believe me, sure I could've gone into more detail but it's not like what I said wasn't true, our meeting wasn't a huge deal," She muttered, pausing as she noticed Luka's face fall.
"Honestly, Kailey's right, it wasn't a huge deal..." He muttered, his gaze focussed on the space between the two girls. "I'm gonna get back to my book now..." He said after a while, quickly burying his head in the pages.
Kailey frowned, immediately regretting her choice of words.
"I didn't mean it like that. Of course, it was a big deal, it led to... Well this," She gestured between them. "I just meant that it wasn't some big film-like scene where rose petals fell in the background or some shit, it was just two kids being kids..."
Luka sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.
"I know El, don't worry. It's fine, I'm fine," He grumbled, sounding anything but fine.
Kailey turned to Mika, fighting her cringe at Luka's tone.
"Could you give us a minute..." She said, flashing Mika an apologetic smile.
Mika didn't reply, only nodded and left, casting one last worried glance back at Luka before she left. Kailey took the opportunity to sit closer to Luka, taking up the chair beside him, though she was still sure to keep a respectful distance away. If he was mad at her then he probably wouldn't be too happy if she tried cuddling up to him, even if that's all she wanted to do.
