It had been a year later since everything happened. Jethro and Jack were fine. They were very happy with each other. For the first 2 weeks after everything, Vance told them to stay home and that's what they did. They stayed home and had some laughs, and mostly watched Indiana Jones movies.
Jack and Jethro were now walking through the elevators of NCIS. They'd been back for a long time now. They had been talking about different things in the elevator and Jethro asked her if they could invite the team to dinner that night. Of course, Jack said yes but was a bit sceptical because Jethro normally didn't want company over. "Well, I'm gonna head up," Jack said once they were at Jethro's desk. They'd already said hello and invited the team to dinner. "Alright. Bye," Jethro said and leaned in to give Jack a "goodbye" kiss.
After work, Jack and Jethro arrived at Jethro's house together. He opened her door for her and she thanked him, as usual and they headed inside. Jethro quickly took off his shoes and threw his jacket on the hook, next to the door. He walked into the kitchen and started cooking the steaks for dinner. Jack had just gotten her shoes off and nicely put her jacket on the hook next to Jethro's. She quietly sat on the couch and took out her phone. She was texting Faith and she responded very quickly. She had a funny reply which made Jack chuckle.
An hour later, Ellie, Nick, Vance, McGee and Delilah had arrived and were sitting on the couch with Jack. They were talking about a lot of things while Jethro finished cooking dinner. "Yeah. Well, we all know Jethro. He's willing to save other people's lives even if it means he's risking his own life. He's a gentleman but he's gotta start looking out for himself," Jack said. "No can do, Jack. Looking after you takes up all of my time," Jethro says. He'd been eavesdropping on their conversation for some time now. "I'm hungry so if you don't want me to starve to death you better hurry it up," Jack joked. "Good thing I've already dished up everyone's plates then," Jethro said, making Jack smile.
They were all at the dining room table eating the steaks that Jethro had cooked. "Mmm. These are very good," Ellie complimented Jethro. "Thanks, Ellie," Jethro says, smiling a bit. Jethro stood up after a bit. "I'd like to say something," He says. "Jack, you've honestly been there for me when I needed you. You have helped me overcome challenges. Normally, I can't talk about my feelings but with you I can't hold anything back. I'm afraid that is I don't do you this now, I'll never get the chance to," Jethro walked over to her and got down on one knee beside her chair. "I love you, Jack and I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. So, Jacqueline Marie Sloane, will you marry me?," Jethro pulled out a ring and held it up so she could see. She started crying. The joy she felt when he asked the question she'd been longing for, consumed her. "Yes, yes of course!," she said, smiling. He smiled when putting the ring on her finger. Everyone started clapping. "Finally, you put a ring on that woman's finger!," Vance said. "Shut up! Timing is everything, Leon," Jethro said, chuckling.
It had been a few days since Jethro proposed to Jack. She had moved in with him and was very happy. And so was he. Every night after work, Jethro made a reservation at a fancy restaurant for Jack. They had dinner together and honestly loved it. They were now together like they've always wanted.
