Chapter 5

Vance waited for a few minutes and then he heard, "Hello, Vance," from the other line. He knew it was Jack. She'd obviously been crying and asleep. "So, you got home safe," Vance said. He knew he still had to be the Director of NCIS, not her friend, right now. "I'm sorry for walking out and not calling. There's no excuse for it; even if Agent Gibbs made me upset," Jack said.
Vance knew when she called Jethro, "Agent Gibbs", she was still mad. "Thank you for your apology but we need you here at NCIS to go undercover," Vance said. "Alright, Director. I'll be there in 5 minutes," Jack said and they ended the call. Vance put his phone back in his pocket and looked at Gibbs.
"You need to talk with her. She seemed very upset, heartbroken and tired," Vance said, sighing. "I know," Jethro said. "No you obviously don't. She is very mad. You need to talk to her as soon as possible and don't piss her off again," Vance said in a firm voice.
About 5 minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Jack entered in one of her professional outfits. Her face was red. It was obvious that she had been crying. "Hello Vance. Agent Gibbs," Jack said, nodding at Gibbs. Jethro knew as soon as he heard the words "Agent Gibbs", she was very hurt and mad.
"Jack," Vance said. Then he got them both briefed on what was going to happen. They were to report to a paid villa in downtown Washington. They were to stay there for 3 hours and then go in. They were supposed to drive to a local bar and meet the guy. Their undercover names were Stephanie and James Brown. They just hoped to God that this operation goes as planned.
Jethro and Jack had just arrived at the villa. The car ride had just been silent. Jethro did try to make conversation a few times but Jack hadn't given in. Jack had just sat there, looking out the window and thinking. Thinking about anything but Jethro. "Jack...we're here," Jethro said, cautiously. Jack sighed.
