Chapter 26

Stiles was now at the nursery and he was standing in front of the door, holding his son, waiting for them to come to the door. 'come on...' Stiles whispered, bouncing up and down, looking at his watch. It was 8am and school starts in 15 minuets. 

Then the door opened. Stiles saw that it was Julie: the lady who looked after the toddlers and the owner of the building. She was a middle aged women with brown hair. She loved kids.  'hey Stiles!' she said smiling at him. 'hey' Stiles replied putting on a slight smile, wanting to get to school. Benny looked to the side and saw Julie and immediately started crying. Stiles groaned, 'why is he always like this?' he whispered. Julie smiled sadly at him, 'because he doesn't want to leave his daddy.' she said. Stiles rolled his eyes. 'yeah but I gotta get to school.' Stiles groaned out. 'you are the one who had a child when you were 15.' Julie said smiling. Stiles glared at her, sometimes Julie acted like his mom and he didn't really like that. 'It's not my fault.' Stiles defended. 'oh so it's Lydia's fault, is it?' Julie asked. Stiles shook his head, 'no! It isn't. I just. Benny wanted to come I guess.' Stiles said, trying to get a crying Benny to calm down. 'so, it is Benny's fault?' Julie asked, smiling. Stiles gaped at her, 'no! I...' he paused and took a deep breath. 

'ok.' Julie said.' you comfort him for 2 minuets and I will come back, I will even ring your the high school to tell them that you might be late. Ok?' Julie asked, smiling, getting Stiles to calm down.  Stiles nodded slightly, 'thanks...' he whispered. Julie smiled and closed the door and walked back inside. 

Stiles sighed as he watched her walk in and he looked at Benny who had tears in his eyes. 

'ok bud.' Stiles said as he looked at Benny. Benny looked back at Stiles 'dada' he said. Stiles looked at Benny guiltily. He felt like a bad dad leaving Benny. He wished he could take Benny with him but he knew he couldn't. And Benny saying his name and giving him those eyes that he can't say no to made it even more harder. 'Ben...you have to go in and see your baby friends?' he asked as a question, it sounded ridiculous saying it out loud but he knew what he meant. 'I have to go to school...and I can't stay with you, you can't come with me ok? But Julie is really nice and she wants to look after you. Please Benny. You are like this everyday just...' he paused. Stiles wiped the tears of Benny's face and gave him a soft smile. 'I love you buddy ok? But you have to go.' Benny obviously didn't response, just stared at his father. Like he understood what he just said. Stiles smiled slightly again and then knocked on the door again and once again Julie was at the door.  

'I called your school.' Julie said. Stiles nodded, 'thanks...' he whispered. 'Bye Ben.' Stiles said, looking at him. He passed him to Julie and Benny immediately started crying again. Julie started bouncing him in her arms, trying to calm him down. 'dada, dada, dada, dada' Benny kept saying over and over, reaching for Stiles, tears in his eyes. Stiles looked at him guiltily while Julie looked at Stiles shocked, 'he's said his first word?' she asked. Stiles nodded, 'yeah, this morning.' he said, over Benny's crying. Julie nodded and looked at Benny, 'dada is going to be here later ok?' she said. 'wave bye-bye.' Julie said, smiling softly at Benny. And she did a wave at Stiles, showing Benny. Benny still had tears in his eyes but he had calmed down a bit. He looked at Stiles and copied what Julie was doing, waving. HE WAS WAVING. 'dada' he said again as he waved. 

Stiles couldn't believe it and he smiled at Benny. 'I love you Ben, bye.' Stiles said, waving as well. And he started running in the direction of his jeep.

Stiles got to school in 7 minuets. There was no traffic and he got there really fast. Well, he tried too. It was 8:12am. He got out the jeep to see Scott waiting for him. He ran forward, pulling his backpack on his back. 'Stiles!' Scott yelled as he saw him. 'hey man.' Stiles said as he got to him. 'you are-' Scott started to say. 'Early. Yeah.' Stiles said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes. 'but you are-' Scott started to say again but then stopped realising that Stiles was being sarcastic. 'right, you were being sarcastic.' he said. Stiles nodded and hit Scott on the back of the head, 'you should know by now dude.' he laughed. Scott glared at him and they both started heading into school. 

'so, Benny didn't go in ok again?' Scott asked as they were heading to class. 'actually, he waved goodbye today.' Stiles said. Scott gaped at him, 'seriously?' he asked. 'yep and he also said his first word today.' Stiles smiled as he kept on walking. Scott stopped dead in his tracks in shock and he watched Stiles keep walking. 'wait! Really?' he yelled as he caught up with Stiles. 'yeah and guess what it was.' Stiles said looking at Scott as he caught up. 'it was da. And dada.' Stiles finished. Scott's shocked face turned into a smile, 'Congrats buddy!' Scott yelled happily. Stiles nodded and smiled, 'thanks. I am really proud of him. I just have to tell Lydia now.'

It was now night and Stiles had just dropped of Benny at Lydia's about 2 hours ago. Lydia was over-joyed that Benny had said his first word. She couldn't be more proud of him. 

Stiles was in his living room, trying to do some homework but was failing. Then he heard a noise, it was a dispatch, calling his dad. 'bring every officer in the department and state police.' Stiles heard it say. 'two people jogging in the woods, found a dead body. Girl, in her 20's.' it continued. Stiles frowned, why were they asking for all the officers if they found the dead body? what are they looking for? Stiles thought. 'we need to look for the other half.' 

Stiles' eyes widened in shock and excitement at hearing that. Stiles heard his father leave the house. Thinking Stiles was upstairs. 'I gotta get to Scott.' Stiles muttered. He looked at his watch. 

9:45pm 

'shit.' Stiles muttered quietly. Scott would be mad at him but then he shrugged. He grabbed his phone and called Scott. 

No answer. 

He tried again. 

'come on Scott...' he whispered. 

No answer. 

Stiles groaned and stood up and he put his phone back into his pocket. He was gonna go to Scott's.

Stiles waited about 8 minuets before heading to Scott's house. He wanted to make sure that his dad didn't see him coming out.

He just got to Scott's house and he got on top of his roof. Hoping that Scott would hear something. He didn't want to go to the front door because he didn't know if Melissa was going to be there or not and he didn't wanna get into trouble. 

Suddenly Stiles heard footsteps coming onto the deck, it was Scott. Stiles swung down backwards and saw Scott. Stiles was about to speak when Scott screamed, and put the bat that he was holding, ready to swing it. 'AHHHHHHHHHH' Stiles started screaming as well.

Once Scott realised it was Stiles, he stopped screaming, still holding the bat up, 'STILES, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!' Scott yelled. 

'you weren't answering your phone!' Stiles yelled, his voice cracking at the end. He looked to the side, still upside down. 'why do you have a bat? he asked loudly. Scott looked at the bat then put it down, looking back at Stiles, 'I thought you were a predator!'  

'A Pre-' Stiles trailed of his sentence and scoffed. 'look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this.'

'I thought you were looking after Benny.' Scott said. Stiles shook his head, 'nope. Lydia has him.'  

 'anyway. I saw my dad leave 20 minuets ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from Beacon Department, and even state police.' Stiles said. 'for what?' Scott asked firmly. 

'Two joggers found a body in the woods.' Stiles said as he got down from the roof. Scott watched him fall, 'a dead body?' Scott asked. Stiles got up and put his hands on the barrister, facing up at Scott. 'no, a body of water. Yes dumb-ass, a dead body.' he said sarcastically and jumped up and faced Scott. 'you mean like murdered?' Scott asked. 

'nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her 20's.' Stiles replied. 

'Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?' 

Stiles smiled happily, 'that's the best part.' he paused, still smiling,' they only found half.' he said. 

Scott raised his eyebrows in shock and anticipation. 

Stiles nodded, still smiling slightly. 'We're going.'
