Link's smile grew with every step he took closer to the shopping area of Kakariko Village. He was just so excited for his new Sheikah clothes, and it really showed through the skip in his step. The day just seemed perfect. The sun shone clear in the sky, but not too bright. The cuccos strut by him, but not too close. Everything seemed precisely balanced. The village had a nice bustle to it, and the noise increased as the small family approached all the stores that Kakariko had to offer. Link felt the nice cool breeze that seemed as if it blew right from the refreshing Zora's Domain itself shift through his short, messy hair.
Cato and Akilah strolled a good few feet behind him hand in hand, at a slower pace than the young, energetic boy. They both wore peaceful smiles, appreciating the time together and the calming scenery. Akilah was used to being inside working on her technology projects, so Cato would often laugh as her poor eyes slowly adjusted to the bright sun. But she was very skilled at tripping people, so his laughter never lasted too long.
Impa quickly walked next to Link, explaining what Sheikah outfits were the most comfortable, which material was best to train in, and other useful facts to know, especially things like which cloth material got stains out the easiest. She was feeling in especially high spirits at the moment, although a cheerful day out would always have that effect on her. She had explored every inch of land in and around Kakariko, but she solemnly went to the shopping area of the village. Too many people yelling and calling out wares for her taste, although on special days like this she made an exception.
Now on any other occasion, Purah would be in a more cheerful mood, as she usually was. But not today. Today was the day she had to get glasses. And she had been dreading this day for a while. She dragged her feet by Akilah, complaining.
"Do I really need glasses? I think it's all a huge overreaction! My eyes are just fine!"
Akilah gave Purah a side glance.
"Alright they are sometimes fine! I don't want glasses! They are going to fall off my face, get into the way of my work, and just be a general pain!" Purah protested.
Akilah shook her head while smiling and gestured to the folded pair of glasses that were tucked in the collar of her shirt, "They are not all bad. You won't even have to wear them all the time. Only when you work with me in the laboratory, and when your eyesight feels sore or blurry. I'm sorry, but this is what happens to most Sheikah researchers, they work in dark rooms, they stare at their tech too long, and boom. Glasses."
"But my vision is just fineeee. I don't think I will even look good in glasses. I don't want to look like some Sheikah nerd!" Purah continued to whine.
Akilah rolled her eyes, "You have been complaining about your sore eyes for months, and now when we get you glasses you still complain? Honestly Purah. And people who wear glasses do not at all look like nerds. I wear glasses and I find them very stylish. You can pick the color, and put them up in your hair or fold them in the collar of your shirt like me. And if your eyes aren't feeling sore or blurry then take them off!"
Purah simply turned the other way and crossed her arms, grumbling to herself. Impa looked over her shoulder to glance at Purah who was still in a pout, and felt bad. She knew Purah was extremely nervous for the new upcoming change, so she decided to cheer her up. She turned around and started to walk backwards, hoping no one was in front of her. As soon as the two sisters made eye contact Impa stuck her tongue out. Purah bit the inside of her mouth, absolutely refusing to smile back. She had already decided she was in a bad mood.
Impa sighed, "Looks like I have to take drastic measures. Ugh, I'm going to regret this. But she's going to smile!"
Link watched in great curiosity as Impa put her fingers in an oddly specific arrangement, and took a deep breath.
