Chapter 15

Four days later, Strong was released, Chris picked her up and they drove together to Strong's apartment. As soon as they were upstairs, Strong let herself be wheeled onto the sofa and took a breath. She turned on the television. Chris went into the kitchen and looked at her cell phone; Hondo hadn't found the boy from the hospital again. Strong noticed Chris was worried and asked "Chris what's wrong?" Chris put her cell phone next to the stove and answered "At the hospital I came across a boy who is probably a victim of domestic violence." Strong looked at her seriously and asked "So what now?" Chris grabbed a bag of cheese puffs from the kitchen cabinet and with her mouth full angrily said "Hondo never found him again!" She walked over to Strong and sat down next to her. Strong asked "So what do we do now?" Chris looked at her thoughtfully and replied "I don't know exactly, Hondo is trying to find him through other means but it doesn't look good..." Strong patted Chris on the shoulder and said "Come on Chris, maybe we can still find him." Chris nodded and watched a movie together with Strong.

The next day there was a party at Deacon's house. Deacon's fourth child turned one year old. Chris and Strong drove to his house together. They parked their car in front of Deacon's house and Strong got the present for Deacon's daughter Victoria out of the trunk. Together they went into the garden of the house. There they were greeted by Any and Deacon. Any said "Strong, I'm so glad to see you." Strong smiled "Thank you, I'm glad to be here too. We also have a gift here for the little one." Strong handed the gift to Any. She looked at it inquiringly and thanked him "Thank you both." They went to Hondo and the others. Little Victoria was sitting on Luca's lap. Any helped Victoria unwrap the gift. It was a talking teddy bear. Victoria happily pressed on the bear's belly and it began to sing. Hondo got up and walked with Chris a bit away from the others and said "Chris, unfortunately we still have no trace of the boy..." Chris looked depressed to the ground and said "I hope we can still find traces...I want to help the boy!" Hondo totally understood Chris but right now there was just nothing more he could do.
Strong had sat down on a chair, her aides had rejected her at the table and was watching Chris from afar. Luca lowered Victoria and addressed Strong "Is everything okay with Chris?" Strong startled and replied "Yes, she's fine." Luca looked at Strong inquiringly and then looked at Chris and said "I think she's acting kind of weird." Strong shook his head "No, it's nothing. She's fine." Luca smiled and patted her on the shoulder and walked over to Street and Tan. Strong looked to Victoria and watched her happily. Chris sat down with Strong and asked "What's making you so happy right now?" Strong replied smiling "Well I'm happy for Deacon's kids that they have such a nice childhood. My childhood was unfortunately not as nice as theirs and it makes me feel good to see that Deacon's kids are doing better..."
