S.W.A.T. A new team member

Chapter 3

A few days later was the exam for the remaining candidates of the training from the S.W.A.T. Academy. There were now a total of only 15 candidates left, due to the innovation 6 candidates can pass.
Luca entered the locker room and met Hondo. Hondo looked at him "Luca, I wanted to talk to you before you go to the others" said Hondo. Luca put on his S.W.A.T. t-shirt "Okay, I'm listening." said Luca. Hondo said "So, I just wanted to tell you that Strong is our new team member if she passes the final exams." Luca looked at Hondo in wonder "And why are you telling me?" he asked "I wanted you to maybe get to know her a little already." Luca slowly understood what Hondo meant. He asked "Do you maybe know what kind of accident Strong had? I mean about her eye." Hondo became serious "Sorry, that's not my job. She'll have to tell you herself. I can only tell you one thing, she is blind in her left eye." replied Hondo. Luca said "Okay, now I understand what happened at the shooting range. But I have to go now too." Luca left the locker room.
Strong stood in the ring with the other contestants and listened to the instructors. She looked to Luca, still grateful to him. Just before the race Luca came to her "Concentrate exactly on one point while running, then you should have no problem concentrating with only one eye." he explained to her. Strong thanked him and followed his tip. She gave it her all and managed to finish second. She also managed the legal tasks. After the last task they all stood in the ring again and Luca said "Thank you for participating but rest now. There on the screen they will see later which of you have passed. This year six people can pass." Luca pointed to a black screen. After Luca's words, Strong went to the kitchen. In the kitchen, she got an apple spritzer. She sat down on the table and had a drink. Chris entered the kitchen "Hey Strong, how are you? How's it going?" Strong looked to her and put down the apple spritzer "Good, I still have to wait for the results to come in." Chris sat down with her "Can I ask you something?" asked Chris. She looked at Strong seriously. Strong replied nonchalantly "Yes I'd love to." Chris asked cautiously "Well, I wanted to ask you what kind of accident you had." Strong became more serious "Well, you probably don't know my record. Well I com from Germany and had a bad accident in my family..." Strong's voice became quieter and quieter and she stopped talking. Chris realized that Strong couldn't talk about it. Chris said "If you can't talk about it, that's fine. You can always come to me if you want to talk." Strong gulped and walked out of the kitchen.
Strong walked back to the training area and looked at the screen. Her name was indeed there and it was in 2nd place. She felt a hand on her shoulder "Hey. Congratulations Strong." She was startled and turned around "It's you." she said behind her was Luca. Luca said "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Strong waved off "Oh, you don't have to apologize.... I know myself that my fa..." She stopped talking. Luca asked "Were you about to say family? Why are you afraid of your family?" Strong shook her head and was about to leave but Luca stopped her "You can really tell me everything, you are part of the S.W.A.T. family now. We can help you." Strong stopped and said "Thank you but I need a little more time.... I tried to talk to Chris about it earlier but I couldn't make it..." She went to the locker rooms and changed. Just as she was about to leave Chris entered the locker room and asked "Are you feeling better?" Strong swallowed but said "Yes, I'm fine." She grabbed her stuff and put her things in her backpack. Chris came closer and asked "Are you sure you're okay?" Strong turned to her "I'm sorry Chris but when you go through something like I did you can't talk about it so soon after it happened. I can't even manage to take off the bandage and show my scar to the whole world..." Strong began to cry. She sat down on the bench and buried her head in her arms. Chris sat down next to Strong and took her in his arms "I don't know what happened to you but I can tell you, you are not alone. Luca and I are here for you."
