Chapter 14

Dinner.

Everyone was silent while munching their foods except for Thisbe who has really no appetite, not daring to touch anything, not even the spoon and forks. Who wouldn't? She just knelt before a man who effortlessly ruined and playing with their life like a toy.

"Thisbe, you should eat some. I made that food. We put you into sleep for almost 2 days and your stomach... for sure it must be empty. Come on. Have some."

"I... I really don't feel like eating, but can I ask you something?" The reply is intended for her mom but her gaze was fixed to Mr. Lee. "You told me, this man.."

"Uncle Lee. Call him Uncle Lee, Thisbe. Don't be rude." Her brother snapped.

"What's he like? I mean, his job, where did you met, how he became Navi's father. Everything, mom. I want to know everything."

"I actually own a very large corporation..."

With one brow raised, Thisbe cuts him saying, "Excuse me, Sir, but I'm not talking to ..." but then her mother smashed the table, not liking how rude her tone towards Mr. Lee.

"Where is that rudeness coming from young lady? I think I said a while ago, do not be rude. For Christ's sake were having a dinner"

"I'm sorry." Thisbe said. Her gaze lands to her brother who was sitting parallel to her. Navi haven't said a single word neither but Thisbe is still disappointed towards him.

"Lee was your father's best friend. I already had Navi when I met Thisbe's father. Fate didn't favor our situation that time, everything was... a mess. Lee's parents sent him abroad to study and Thisbe's father was the one who took care of me that time. And that's where I fell in love with him and had you Thisbe."

Thisbe scans Mr. Lee's expression and she can tell that he is being angered by hearing the story. Thisbe could tell that this evil man also knew how to love but was just blinded by a lie.

"I'm sorry I didn't have the courage to fight for you and Navi. Believe me, if I'm sure that I can give you a good life, I wouldn't be leaving you behind." He said apologetically.

"But you still left mom carry the entire burden on her own." Navi said.

"I came back to take you and your mom but, it was too late!" Mr. Lee said gritting his teeth.

"Enough of this. Let's not dwell in the past and ruin our future." Her mom said. "There's only 5 days left before we leave this place and have a fresh start abroad, so Thisbe, I'm begging you. Please don't make it harder for us, stop being hardheaded, don't leave without our permission, understand?"

Hearing the word 'fresh start' actually sounds nice, but how could she possibly do that if she's leaving Ken and his family behind with a painful scar?

"Mom?" She called shyly, "can I go to school tomorrow? I just need to bid good bye to my friends. To Ken. I can't just leave without saying a word."

"No." Her mom said flatly without a second thought.

"Mom, please. This could be my last chance." Thisbe begged.

"Okay, but make sure no problem will arise. I trust you."

Would Ken finally talk to her?
