Chapter 8

As soon as the bus stops, Ken woke the sleeping Thisbe and they hop out of the bus.

"I shouldn't be acting like this. What should I do? I can't stop feeling so down and worried. I don't want them to see me like this." Thisbe asked worriedly.

Ken's brows furrowed and turn to face her.

"What do you mean? Have you been acting in front of me like that when you have problem?" he asked, "Of course, you should show them how you feel. You are capable of getting hurt too. Not because people around you are so accustomed to seeing you happy doesn't mean you should always do so even when you feel the opposite."

"Maybe you're right." She sighed.

They walked together and again, Thisbe walking faster than normal.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Ken asked while catching up to her pace.

She stopped and faces him.

"Navi promised me that he'll cook my favorite noodles once I got home. And also.. wait..." she looked at him curiously, "why are you following me? Shouldn't you be walking the other way?"

"Do you badly wanted to eat that.." he stopped talking when both of their phones rang.

They checked their phones.

"It's Athena. You should be the one.." Ken said. He wanted to give the phone to her but Thisbe puts her phone right in front of his face for him to see that someone's calling her too.

"It's my mom." She said nervously.

They both took the call separately but Thisbe finishes the call faster than Ken.

She looked gloomily at Ken who's still talking to Athena on the phone.

Once done, Ken faces Thisbe and told her what they've talked about.

"Athena said she'd been waiting for an hour and a half already. I said there's an emergency so she said it is fine. She understands because she knew what happened to Navi." Upon hearing Ken reporting, she doesn't seem to care and so she turns her back and starts walking again timidly.

"What happened?" Ken asked.

"They're not home yet. Mom said there's a delay with everything that's going on at the precinct. It would take a little while before they can go back home." She said.

"Then I guess I should accompany you until they come back."

"No, you should go home. Mrs. Ramos would be mad if he knew I'd been sticking with you at school." Thisbe said worriedly still walking.

"Hey, when did my mother ever do that?" Ken pouted.

'You wouldn't know anything' Thisbe thought to herself.

They're now a few steps closer to the apartment.

"I can't let any visitor come inside so you.should.just.go.home." Thisbe insisted emphasizing every word.

They kept on bickering at each other when a sudden explosion shocked them.

They look towards the direction of the explosion and a sudden realization hits them.

The loud explosion came from the apartment where Thisbe is currently living.

The explosion causes panic around the place.

Thisbe all of a sudden loss strength that made her fall on her knees. Ken tried to talk to her and told her to stay there.

Ken called the fire station and good thing, his father was the one who answered his call.
