After lunch, as I enter the linguistic building, focused on my next class, I feel my arm caught and turn around. Jaebeom is standing before me, pushing his long hair away from his face, his skin glowing. I am excited to see him.
"Hi."
"Hey."
"How do you feel?"
"Fine. Why? Oh! Yeah sorry about the spectacle. I shouldn't have drank so much."
"It's fine." He looks uncomfortable. "About last night..." He pulls me away from the main door, close to a sitting area with tall house plants, away from attention. "I'm sorry."
Why is he sorry? What did he do? What did I do? If I ask him, will it be insensitive?
"I'm sorry Jaebeom, but some bits of last night have not come back to me yet. I was pretty wasted! Haha!"
"Oh! Of course."
"What happened last night? Did I make a fool of myself? Was I inappropriate?" Oh dear, I could have been.
"I..." He looks like he is wondering wether or not he should tell me. This is all nice but I have class and I was already late this morning, I don't want it to be a pattern.
"I'm really sorry Jaebeom but I have class. Can we catch up later? I need to know what happened."
"Yes of course! Do you want to grab dinner?" Pardon? Is he asking me out? My stunned face makes him realise what he just said and he hurries. "I mean we don't have to! When's your last class, we can meet up after that."
"I finish just before 6pm in building 5."
"I'll wait for you outside. See you later." He looks concerned, serious. What happened that would generate such state?
I spend most of the afternoon trying to remember everything. I recall coming back to my building, as he helped me walking up the street and we met with Jungkook. He was making a face when he left, but I assume it was just him being cautious to leave me drunk with another man more than anything. Would it be because of that? Or did something happen at Amber's? I remember her being happy in the studio, the drinks, talking a lot, meeting people but then, some bits are missing.
It is the end of my last class and I now feel really anxious when I exit the room. Out of the the building, I scan the area and see him sitting on a bench, reading a book under a lamppost as it is starting to get darker. He looks so handsome when focused, his legs crossed, crunched over his read. I approach him.
"Hey." I smile shyly as he looks up at me seriously.
"I'm so hungry. Do you mind if we just grab a bite to eat. It won't be... you know." It won't be a date? Yeah I know!
"Sure."
We walk to the carpark and I recognise his car.
"I thought you were taking the train to university." He looks at me confused and then realises why I say that.
"My car was being fixed that day. I usually drive here." Which explains why I never saw him again after that.
Once in, he helps me with my seatbelt and after he puts his on, I stop his hand reaching for the ignition.
"Can you put me out of my misery please? I've been thinking about this all afternoon and I don't know what I did or you did. I can tell you're upset and I can't help but feeling responsible, even though you're the one apologising."
"You really don't remember?" He looks distraught.
"Did something happen? Something bad?"
"Maybe I shouldn't tell you."
