I knew Ashley was going to get revenge. But why like this? Hurting her again? "Nathan. I don't want my daughter ever leaving your side. Do you understand!"
"Yes sir." I was still holding Melody in my arms. So I walked her upstairs to her room and set her down on her bed. I walked downstairs getting ready to leave. "Son what did I say. You are to always keep and eye on my daughter. So you will stay here tonight."
"All do respect sir, but I have to get clothes."
"Okay son, but hurry back."
I walked to the door. Looked back. Then ran to my house.
***********
It was 3:00 pm. But unusually dark. I was damp and cold. It was raining. I heard someone walking behind me. When I turned around there was no one there behind me. "So baby face. Why are you dating my boyfriend? You know he hates you right." Then a gun was placed at the back of my head. "He won't miss you." And the trigger was pulled.
"No!" It was all just a dream. Just a dream. But it all seamed so real. When I woke up it was 3:10 and raining outside. But I was on my bed and Nate was sitting in the chair across the room. "What's wrong?! Mel are you okay?"
"Ya I'm fine. Just a nightmare."
Nate walked over to my bed and climbed in with me.
"You can tell me what it's about. You know that right? You can always talk to me."
"It was Ashley. She said that you were her boyfriend. That you never loved me. Then she put a gun to the back if my head and said you would wouldn't, wouldn't"
I started crying. I was such a hypocrite. I couldn't even finish a sentence without crying. What was wrong with me?
"Hey; it's okay. You don't have to say anymore. I'm right here okay. I will never leave your side again. Ever."
"Thank you." He got up to go back to the chair.
"Nate! Could you stay here with me?"
"Well your dad said I'm not allowed to let you out of my sight."
"No, I mean in the bed. It us probably more comfortable then the chair." What was I saying. I was so stupid. But he started walking back towards me so I scooted over. "Y-ya. Sure."
"Good night." I whispered "Love you"
"Love you too."
***********
I was sitting in the chair across from Melody's bed. I couldn't fall asleep. I kept thinking about why Ashley would go to such extreme measures to get back at me. But when I finally fell asleep I was shortly woken back up by a bloody scream. It was Melody. "No!" I quickly jumped up and ran over to her. I sat on the bed and let her put her shoulder on my head. For what seemed like the longest time we just sat there her head on my shoulder; crying. Once I was sure she was back asleep I got up to go back to the chair "Nate! Could you stay here with me?"
" Well your dad said I'm not allowed to let you out of my sight."
"No, I mean in the bed. It us probably more comfortable then the chair."
I was kind of taken back with that but after all that happened I felt like I owed her. "Y-ya. Sure." I walked back to her bedside and got back in with her. She said, "Goodnight. Love you." and I whispered back to her, "Love you too."
Once again it took me awhile to fall asleep. But when I did I dreamt of Ashley. But instead of her horassing me she was explaining why she was doing what she was doing. But in the morning when I woke up Melody was gone.
