After days I finally worked up the nerve to call Melody. After a few rings she picked up. Neither of us talked for for a second, scared of what the other would say. Mel was the one to break the silence,
"Hey."
"Hey, listen I'm sorry,"
"Stop."
"Okay, I-" She stopped me again.
"I needed time to figure out my feelings for you, to figure out my thoughts about us. I love you Nathan, and not the kindergarten love, the I want to be with you forever love. I know you hate what you're doing, but yet you're doing it to keep me safe. Thank you."
I had no words. This woman is amazing, and I love her.
"I love you too Mel, and I want to be with you forever too."
It kind of sounded like she was crying but I wasn't sure.
"Hey I got a stupid date with Ashley right now that I have to get ready for, I'll call you after. Bye."
"Bye."
Little did I know at the time, this would be my final bye to her.
