Its December 18. The first official day of winter break. Two more weeks until our freedom is locked up and retained to a stupid building. The only thing I miss less then school itself is the ghetto kids that ride my bus.
"Mel! Mom told me to tell you the bus is here!". That's Jake my stupid older brother.
"Jake, there is NO school today." I yelled back. While I was thinking of school, I started to think of some of my classmates. There was that one girl, nah don't like her. Actually I didn't really miss anyone.
But I did miss Nate.
Nate and I have been best friends since we were toddlers, but I have also liked him for a long time. He tries to make time for me even though his devil girlfriend, Ashley, always tries to take him away from me. Not that I'm keeping him for myself, it's just that since he started dating that snake, we've spent less and less time together.
"Mel! Aydan still hasn't texted me. I'm freaking out!" Aydan is my older sister's, Carmen, boyfriend they are trying to keep a long distance relationship with each other. He moved recently and they are still trying to make it work.
"Im sure he'll turn up. If not you can join the loner group." I gestured to myself with a smug smile, knowing the last thing she would want to do is willingly join something I'm in.
"Just be quiet Mel. Just because Nate hasn't asked you out yet doesn't mean you have to throw your sadness on me." She said with a flip of her hair.
"Just because Nate hasn't asked you out yet doesn't mean you have to throw you're sadness on me." I mimicked my sister with a high pitched voice.
"Shut it Melody!" And with that her bedroom door slammed shut.
I laughed and headed downstairs to make myself breakfast. Pulling out the toaster, I popped some Eggos into in. Man. Eggos were my life.
They practically gave me a heart attack when they popped up, scaring the living wits out of me. Oh Eggos, why do you turn against me?
I grabbed some syrup out of the pantry and smothered my waffles with the gooey goodness. I sat down in front of the TV in our living room and wondered to myself, What's Nate doing right now?
