Last night Mel and I fell asleep on the couch. She had her head on my chest. My arm was around her shoulders holding her tightly to me. Once I was sure she had fallen asleep I whispered, "I'm never letting you go. It will be forever." After that I reached over to grab my phone being as careful as I could to not wake her up.
Nate: Mom I'm staying the night at Melody's.
Mom: Okay. Fine by me.

I set my phone back down and rested my head on the black leather sofa. Even though my heart was beating like a snare drum I am still human. So I fell asleep.

It was still dark outside when I had awoken with the sound of rattling keys. I had expected it to be Mrs. Parks. But something was different. I suddenly wasn't cold anymore. I looked down and saw that a blanket was wrapped around me and Melody. It couldn't have been Carmen. She wouldn't give a damn if I died of hypothermia or not. So it had to have been Mrs. Parks. That left one person left in the family. Melody's Dad.

I woke up at what seemed to be around 6:29. I looked up at Nate. The blood ross to his cheeks. I followed his gaze to the doorway. Standing there was the last person I expected. "Hi Daddy."

"Get up off of that couch. Now! " as he was saying this is voice became clearer and clearer and louder. I got up like he commanded me to. My dad was a general in the army so you get used to the orders and commands. "Good now son, get up but slowly step away from my daughter-" At that moment my mom comes walking in. "Thomas they are kids leave them alone." When my mom was done talking dad started to turn toward her. Nate and I began to sat down when he said, "Did I give you permission to sit down cadet?!"

"No, sir."

"I'm sorry daddy please don't get mad at him." He laughed and walked over to me and Nate. I had expected him to yell but instead he laughed and hugged me. "I was just giving y'all a hard time. But Mel you are still grounded. Okay?!"

"Yes sir!" Me and Nate chuckled and hugged each other until me dad 'coughed'. I knew that was a sing for us to let go.

*************

Melody was grounded for a week from seeing me. But I spent as much time as I could with her during school. I love her so much!
