She Forget, I Regret

"Love, malapit na 5th anniversary natin! Where should we celebrate?" I stopped eating to face my girlfriend who's looking intently at me.

"I already have a plan, and you had to ruin it by asking." I sighed.

"Ehhh?! Sorry, love. But isn't it unfair? Palagi nalang ako yung nasusurprise tuwing anniversary natin! Dapat next year, ako naman magsusurprise sayo." Sagot niya saka humagikhik.

"Sure. Now, eat. Malapit na magsimula first subject mo." I said kaya't sinaksakan niya ng french fries ang bibig niya.

Napailing ako habang nakangiti. She didn't have to surprise me to make me happy, because being with her everyday is enough for me.

We were on a mall, one Saturday afternoon, to look for a book that she need for a major subject.

After buying it, we went to her favorite ice cream shop.

"Buti nalang we still have the time to have a date, 'no Zeus?" She said while looking at me with twinkling eyes.

"Yeah. Maybe because we're still 1st years, baka next year magsimula na tayong maging busy." Sagot ko habang pinupunasan ang kaunting dumi sa gilid ng labi niya.

"Hm, siguro nga. But promise me, kahit maging busy tayong dalawa, we should always talk, ha? Kahit kamustahan lang. Okay?"

I smiled when I heard what she said.

"Of course, Love. Everyday, you can still tell me your stories." I answered with a smile.

She grinned before continuing to eat her ice cream.

We were about to exit the shop when someone abruptly approached us. I instinctively hid Avegail behind me. I felt her grip on my shirt before peeking at the man in front of me.

"So sorry to scare the both of you, but may I ask, are you a model? Do you already have an agency?" The guy suddenly asked.

"Huh? No. Excuse us." I answered before pulling Ave. But I halted when I felt her tugging me too.

"But he's the school model when we were in high school po, does it count? Hehe." She said to the man.

The man suddenly smiled at her and gave her his calling card.

"That's great! If ever your brother is interested on being a model, don't hesitate to contact me."

Nilingon ako ni Ave na nakakunot ang noo.

"Mukha ba tayong magkapatid?" Tanong niya bago naunang maglakad.

I shook my head before following her. She's pouting, her eyebrows are almost connected by the intensity of her frown.

It's not the first time that someone mistook us as siblings. Maybe because of our height.

"Come on, Love. Don't be mad." I said when we were inside the car.

We were quiet for a few minute before she shifted to face me.

"You have to call this man." She said habang halos idikit na sa mukha ko yung calling card.

I sighed before starting the engine.

"Nah, that's probably a scam." I answered while driving.

"No! Sinearch ko kanina, both his name, the agency and the pictures. He's legit, Zeus." She answered with enthusiasm.

"And I still didn't forget what you said when we were 16, you said that you want to be a professional model after being the school's model!" She continued.

Napangiwi ako nang maalala ko ang patpatin kong katawan, and my sudden desire to be a model.

"That was in the past, Love." I answered silently.

She held my free hand and caressed it softly.

"You know that you can't lie to me, Love." She said carefully.

"I already saw your binder full of different style and poses for modelling. Your collection of magazines under your bed, your saved videos of runway models and especially the one entitled 'The Ultimate Guide To Become A Model.'" Nag init ang tenga ko sa mga narinig. How the heck did she found it?

I parked the car infront of her house, and was supposed to get out when she spoke again.

"Akala ko nga noong una, nababakla ka na kasi puro lalaking mod-" I kissed her to stop her from talking, because I felt like burning.

Lumabas agad ako at pinagbuksan siya ng pinto.

"Hala, totoo pala yung ikikiss ka daw pag inaasar mo yung lalaki na bakla?" She said after she got out.

"Avegail Rianne Castro." I called her name as a warning, but this girl just grinned at me before hugging me.

"Zeus Leon Ybañez." She said softly.

I hugged her back, she looked up at me and smiled.

"Follow your dreams, Zeus. Do what you love. I will always support you, as long as I live." She said before kissing me.
