"The groom's family has arrived."

Ajwa's heart felt like came into her throat when Huma proclaimed this. Her long nails dug into the velvety sofa of the bridal room on which she was seated. Clenching her lower jaw tightly, she looked at the closed door from where now she could hear the voice of drum whacking.

He really came then.

Just a few minutes ago, she was happy that he didn't reach there yet and she would be free from this forced marriage. Everyone else was worried but she was so delighted at this information. She was praying constantly in her heart that it would come true and the groom would run away from the wedding.

But now every hope in her plummeted with each blow the drummers placed on the drum. This sound was so annoying and it was feeling as though it was injecting melted steel into her ears.

Huma and Inaya were so happy and they were teasing her with flirty remarks. For everyone, it was announced that Faraan was Ajwa's fiance since childhood. Anyone didn't know about Javaria's engagement anyway so it wasn't a big problem when Khalid ordered all the two women of his house to say this lie.

Javaria gave her a terrified look. She was able to see the way Ajwa's brown o s  darkened at this information. She was dreading her reaction to this news so decided to walk over to her but quickly retreated. Instead, she went out to welcome the baraat as the bride's sister.

Ajwa bit her lower lip harshly. She was stuck in this sham of marriage now. There was no way out.

How awful her fate was. Why did this world treat daughters like this? Did they think they have no life or no say of their own? Did they consider a girl as a puppet? Because her father did this. Just for the sake of a better job opportunity and not to ruin his friendship, he wrecked the dignity of his both daughters. He was giving the other one to the same monster who bit his first daughter without caring for any outcome.

Her eyes were getting wet but she didn't let them got overflowed. She didn't want to appear weak. She was still in her thoughts when the door of the bridal room opened and her parents appeared. She thought they were might here for the nikkah ceremony and it made goosebumps appear on her body. Her father was finally going to let that jerk gain the whole control over her legally.

Khalid had his lips pursed tightly while Ayesha had beads of sweat on her forehead. She turned towards Ajwa's friends. "Beta, you guys go and welcome the baraat."

The girls nodded and left. Ajwa scrutinized her parents blankly. Ayesha headed towards her and sat beside her, tugging her hand in her warm one.

Khalid tugged his hand in his trousers pocket. "Listen carefully. I don't want any yelling, crying, or screaming from you. You are going to marry Faris Kirmani. He is your groom now and he was your fiance as well."

She gritted her brows. She didn't understand anything. Where did Faris come into this?

"What are you saying?" She inquired, lifting her face to see her father's taut expression.

"Ajwa, dear. Your nikkah is going to be with Faris, not Faraan. In a while," this time Ayesha spoke, to control the situation from becoming worst. She didn't want father and daughter again to fight over this.

She stood up with a jerk. "Mama, you aren't making sense. I am unable to understand you."

"Faraan had run away from his house today and no one from his family knows where he is. To save the dignity of Kirmani and us, Burak had given Faris's name for the marriage now," Khalid let out the truth.

Ajwa's eyes widened in shock. "What the hell is this? Am I a puppet that first he wanted me and then left on the wedding day? Am I that terrible that you are going to sell me to the other brother to save your dignity? Aren't you seeing how they are humiliating us? First, they rejected Javaria Api, and now this. I am not a pushover. You can't ---"
