"I have private exams after a few months and I want to resume my studies," Ajwa said, sitting opposite him on the bench.
Faris raised a brow. "Private exams?"
She nodded.
He put the cup on the table in front and gave her a strange look. "You didn't use to study in any college or university?"
She bit her lower lip. "No."
"Why?" He came up with another question.
"My father was against the studies of daughters. He thought it was useless," she mumbled, twisting the handle of the cup.
"That's such an inaccurate thinking, I am sorry to say. Everyone has something unique to give to the society," he asserted.
She wanted to say that you shouldn't feel sorry for expressing this but she kept quiet. After all, this involved her own father and she didn't want to humiliate him like this in front of her husband.
"What were you studying by the way?" He now asked, getting to the main topic.
"I was in FSC's second year. In fact, my exams are going to be in two months," she answered, taking a sip of the tea to wet her dry throat.
Faris remained silent for a while before nodding to himself. "Alright. You give your private exams right now and then I'll get you enrolled in any university."
Her eyes widened. She couldn't believe this. "Physical classes?"
Faris smiled. "Of course."
Ajwa's face lit up. "Are you saying for real?"
He nodded and held her soft hand before bringing it near to his lips. He kissed the inside of her palm, evoking havoc to form in her heart.
"Your tea definitely has a unique taste," he complimented her and here all her happiness sat down like a soap lather.
For once, her stupid heart thought he was going to say some heart fluttering comments, or maybe said he liked her as she did. This kiss should be linked with it. But then she realized, he was just thinking of her as a duty. His every gesture, his every word was calculated and without any emotion which she felt. His gentle nature and sense of responsibility were making him do this and nothing else. In his dictionary, love and feelings had no place.
She then went inside the room and slumped on the bed in frustration. Today she should be happy that she was able to resume her studies and that too in a university as all her friends did. With Faris, she was definitely living a life better than at her father's place. He was giving her respect, took care of her, and even letting her study as well which was her dream. But somehow nothing was making her feel comforted now. The fact that she was falling in love with a guy who couldn't return her feelings was so bothersome.
Why this was happening to her? She hated Faris then why did this love come in between? But this was something she had no control over. She couldn't stop her heart to fall for this man.

Today the weather was incredibly pleasant. Dark clouds were surrounded on the whole sky and cool breezes were swaying around. And then around three in the afternoon, the rain started to pour. Soon it took the form of a storm. Ajwa first time in her life saw this heavy downpour. For a moment, she mistook the big drops of rain for snowfall. But now she remembered Faris's words that this place experienced extreme climate changes.
Faris as usual left for his clinic after lunch. And now seeing the rain, she was thinking that he shouldn't have gone. As the evening was approaching, it was giving more reminders of the night. She who first enjoyed watching and even getting soaked in the rain was now feeling weird to be alone here. This house still irked her because of its complicated architecture and lonely sense.
