When the police arrested Faris that day from his clinic, he was clueless as to why did they feel a need to even come here. First, he thought that some serious case might have happened, for this reason, they were here. Then they said that he had murdered his ex-wife. He was shocked hearing this. He never married anyone except Ajwa so from where this woman came from? Nevertheless, the cops never heard what he said and took him.
When he reached the lockup and before the torture begin, one of the inspectors told him to just confess what he did in a straight way. But what was there for him to admit? He never knew this Alice or Fatima whatsoever. He blatantly kept on refusing. Then before taking him to the torture cell, the police showed him the same CCTV footage. Faris's whole body froze. That person indeed looked like him. Perhaps more than himself. And then he knew right away what the situation was.
Faraan didn't like him, he was well aware. But he hated him to this extent he never ever thought. He tricked Faris into a crime so skillfully. The police continued to do different types of torments on him, but he didn't let out any sound from his mouth. Neither did he acknowledge nor he even screamed due to pain. He was silent and his every pore was tensed due to the new surge of anger rising in it.
Faris had an idea that nothing could have happened now. Faraan had framed him so handily that he had no way out, as for now. He got to know that the woman knew the guy who murdered her as Faris. The car which was seen near her apartment belonged to him. The sim with which Alice's husband used to call her was under his name which he recalled once Faraan borrowed from him. Every girl whom that guy dated or married knew him as Faris.
Coincidentally, Faris's phone got lost around the same time when all this happened, and then till he purchased a new one for him, he blocked his sim. Now if he would ask the police to track his location or any evidence that he had no contact with Alice, it would be futile. His location wouldn't be showing and no one would believe it. He still couldn't imagine that Faraan would have killed someone.
The police failed to extract any information from him. But Faris kept quiet about Faraan. He knew any new word would make him appear more as an offender who was now using his brother to wash his crime. Faraan had smartly put every blame on him. He wanted to find a way out of here but there was none till far. His own brother had bitten him yet it was effective and tangled.
Yet Faris cared for only one person and that was Ajwa. He didn't want her to be skeptical of him. She should have trust in him. Her confidence in her shouldn't be lost. Somehow he knew deep down that she would believe him. She loved him and trust came before love. And what he expected happened!
When he saw Ajwa, he thought he had gotten hope in a deserted area. When she said that she trust him, it legit felt like he had been bailed out of there. Nothing meant to him more than this.
"Faris, you know I am pregnant," Ajwa announced and then his eyes widened in surprise.
"What?" He murmured, still unsure of what he heard.
Ajwa nodded with teary eyes. "Our baby. It's true. I got to know this the day they arrested you. I wanted to tell you this but...but I couldn't get a chance."
Faris squeezed her hands. Such happy news and in such a condition. Ajwa would be so alone and stressed like this. But this news did prove to make him delighted even in such a state.
"Ajwa, we are going to be parents. I am so happy," He smiled.
She shook her head while sniffing her nose. "Not like this. We are going to celebrate this together very soon In Sha Allah. Because truth always wins and I know where the lie and deceit lie. Faris, the one who is behind all this is---"
