Trailing her eyes across the books she tried to find one that she could read. None of them was screaming out in interest to her. Pursing her lips together she looked at the few words for a second before sighing. Giving up on her hunt, she looked over to Derek who was staring off into space. He looked so lost.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
His eyes snapped to her and he seemed to stare at her for a few seconds before registering who she was, "when did you get here?"
Her brows furrowed at the words. That was a question she'd heard so often and from everyone and yet she'd never heard it from him. "I was here before you..." she reminded and he nodded slightly.
"Right... sorry," he muttered. Dragging herself away from the shelves, she sat down beside him.
"What's in your head?"
"If you had the power to get everything you wanted. To prove to everyone that you're not a liar, that everything is true. If you had the ability to create a future of everything you want then would you do it?" He asked, and her brows furrowed as she tried to understand what the problem was with that.
"Is there a.... catch?"
"The person you love might hate you."
"You think you're going to lose Paige?" She asked, the conversation suddenly became very uncomfortable for her. Like she was itching to get away and yet from the sorrow that was built on his face she knew that she couldn't leave yet. He looked down at his hands before he gave the most artificial nod anyone had ever seen and yet she didn't register it as such.
"I'm going to lose someone," he finalised, "and I don't know what to do."
"I can guarantee you that Paige will never want to lose you. She loves you too much."
"I think she loves you more," he admitted.
"Of course she does. I'm her best friend," she teased turning her head to meet his eyes and he looked at her mildly annoyed. She began to laugh causing him to follow and his eyes fell onto her lips. It was like Paige was forgotten about as he wondered what it was like to kiss her just for a moment.
Then the bell rang.
Staring up at the ceiling she tried to think of a way she could add herself into the conversation. It was impossible to do when she felt that simply to respond to a word would require a whole new alphabet. The car was dark other than the small light which crept in through the windows from the streetlight outside and the small overhead light which sat on top of her brother and Noah.
The three all had food and drink in their hand with them choosing to get a take-out. Usually, Beacon Hills was a quiet little town and that meant that there was very little chance something was going to happen. Even if something did they were on the side of town which usually had nothing so they'd be the last to be called.
Grabbing onto another chicken nugget she dipped it into the sauce before tossing it into her mouth. It was crunchier than usual and after all her research on food, there was some guilt seeping into her. She felt like she was eating heart disease. Noah was rooting through the bag with a frown, "mmm. Did they forget my curly fries?"
"You're not supposed to eat fries, especially the curly ones," Stiles reminded, and Noah looked over to his son unamused. Margo, on the other hand, smiled slightly as she watched them. Their father's health was always a topic for debate and was the sole reason why she'd done so much research on the different foods and which diets were the healthiest diets.
