Pushing through the crowd of people, the panic that filled him could not be matched. In fact, he didn't think he'd felt this kind of fear and panic since he was a very young person - perhaps when he found out that his home had been set on fire. It was unthinkable that something could go so wrong.
He'd been tracking down another werewolf when he'd gotten the plethora of texts that had been the cause for his own nightmare. It had been half a decade since they'd left Beacon Hills. They visited often and they also made a yearly trip to visit both Paris and London to check up on Ethan, Cora and Isaac (there had been some tension the first time they went to visit Ethan as Jackson and Derek simply did not get along. Not that Margo or Ethan ever paid attention to them).
They now had a house together that had gardens filled with flowers and birdbaths and feeders, although that didn't stop the inside of the house from becoming a plant home as well. There was the traditional white picket fence at the front and they were surrounded by neighbours that were so judgemental it had become a joke to act like youthful people since it irritated all of their neighbours who thought the only way of life was the same life they lived in the 1960's (it was highly amusing to them both).
Due to the ongoing war with Monroe, whilst they did their very best to remain free from the supernatural dangers Derek still acted as a recruiter for Scott's pack. He was also often found trying to get information from hunters they found along the way and other victims of the supernatural war.
Margo on the other hand, had just published her third book now, and all three of them were successful. The first was about a boy and a girl who, no matter how hard they tried, could not shake each other. They fell in love and soon found that no matter the distance between them they'd always find each other. They'd always love each other too - that was an ending that was not negotiable in either of the two character's hearts.
Dodging one more person who had hints of blood pouring down their forehead and marring their skin, he stepped around the corner listening out for the familiar heartbeat. He needed to hear that heartbeat to be able to assure himself that she was okay and yet there were far too many around. He knew he'd be too late, he'd been hours away when he'd gotten the calls and the texts.
He expected to see chaos and pain and fear and yet when he finally rounded another corner and found the correct room, his hand fell against the door frame releasing a breath of trepidation. Taking a moment, he looked around at the oddly calm room. He'd been too late, that much was clear and yet it was so quiet.
He didn't expect it to be quiet.
Not being able to help himself, the relief jumped from his chest through the form of a thick breath and he broke out in a large smile that was simply magnificent. In front of him, such a short and yet excruciatingly long way away, Margo was lying in a hospital bed with her hair pressed down to her forehead due to the sweat and tears both marked her face and continued to run freely although for two very different reasons.
She leant forward pressing a kiss to the little forehead in front of her, not even registering Derek's arrival yet. He walked in so slowly before he made it to the bed and he crouched down so that he was at the same high as she was. "Hey," he muttered so softly, and she pulled her eyes to look over at him the hint of a smile on his face.
"Hey," she whispered back, "we have a daughter," she added on so quietly so that they didn't wake up the sleeping bundle in her arms.
If possible, the smile widened on his face and he brought his hands up one of them resting on her own head as he wiped away a few of the tears that were still falling and with the other, he gently caressed the babies cheek with the back of his knuckle.
There would never be any distance between them again, so I suppose that would be the end of their story. They were also never going to face a supernatural problem as dangerous as they'd ever encountered, so that was another end of another story. Now they were on the beginning of something new, and this story would be just as good as the rest of them.
The End
A/N: Thank you all to have commented (I read every single one) and read and enjoyed this book. It means a lot to me that you've gotten to the end of Margo's story with me and feel free to check out my other Teen Wolf stories (mostly Derek Hale or Isaac Lahey).
I also have a booktok - @b.nkwski
