What About Us?

Part 9

Ashley wakes up and she doesn't see Chris in the room, she gets out of bed and she walks to the window and she takes a deep breath, and then closes her eyes. Kate says behind her. "Hey, You're awake."

Ash turns around and says with a slight smile. "Yeah I am, how long was asleep? " Kate sets the coffee down and says as he hugs her friend. "Just a few hours, Chris had to get to the film shot so he said for me to stay with you."

She pulls away and looks at her friend and Ash says as she sits on the bed. "I just, I feel like I am in a nightmare and I am just going to wake up and be pregnant still."

Ash looks at the ground and Kate sits by her friend and puts her arm around Ash and says. "Come here." Ash leans her head on Kate's shoulder and says with tears. "'I just want to wake up, I don't like this nightmare."

Kate says as she rubs Ash's back a bit. "I know and I am sure Chris is thinking the same way, I mean he was going to be a dad but then...Never mind. "

Ash nods and says as she grabs her coffee. "I know What he is going through and I can't help but, Blame myself for this, I don't know if he would be okay with me around I mean-"

Kate says in a raised voice. "Ashley Michelle Evans you stop talking like this! I don't want to hear about this! He loves you still, just before he left he told me to say this if you are like this, Chris loves you and he doesn't EVER blame you for this, he understands what happened and he said he is so sad about the baby being gone, but he still wants to be with you."

Ash blinks and then smiles and says. "He really said all that or did you add to it?"

Kate smiles and says. "I might have added to it but he did mean what he said by him saying he loves you."

Ashley nods and Jake walks in and says. "Hey, sis, how are you?" Ashley looks at Jake and says. "I want to get back to work, Doc!" He grins and says. "You will soon. Just rest for now." he hugs her and kisses her head and says. "Nice seeing you Kate."

He winks at her and she rolls her eyes and Ash says when jake leaves. "What was that for?"

Kate says ."What?"

Ash says with a grin. "Something going on with you and my brother?" Kate says. "What no, I mean yeah but it's a lot to hear about." Ash turns to Kate and says. "I am all yours," Kate says with a frown. "Theo and I are having problems and Jake is just so kind and he wants me to leave Theo but I still love him."

Ash says as she looks worried. "What Problems?!" Kate says. "He is just upset over small things and so I think he and I are divorcing," 

Ash says. "So where does Jake come into this?" Kate grins and says. "He is keeping me safe and Theo is just a jerk and I wished I didn't meet him back in Pairs! And I am glad I am leaving him, but don't ever think of Leaving Chris! But jake is such a sweet guy and I think I have fallen in love with him."

Ash says. "Your kidding!!"

Kate shakes her head and says. "Nope." Ash smiles and says. "Oh, my god bestie that's great!!" She hugs her and Kate says as she smiles and looks at Ash. "Hey, You're smiling! This is great!"

Ash smiles and says. "I am happy for you and I think I am okay now." Ash gets a call from Chris and she picks up and says. "Hello, Husband." She hears him laugh and he says over the phone. "Hey, Wife. You doing better?"

Ash looks at Kate and says. "Yeah just chatting with Kate." She says with a smile. "I miss you so much."

He says. "Awe, I miss you too darling, I am just getting off from work so I can be at the hospital in five minutes, okay?" She nods and says. "Yeah, that sounds great." He says in a worried tone. "Are you sure your okay?"

She says as she wipes away her tears. "Um, I just really want to see you, Chris, I miss you," He says as he gets into the car. "Ok, I'm on my way." She nods and says. "Okay." He hangs up and drives off.

Kate says behind Ash. "Everything okay with him?' Ash turns around and says. "Yeah I think so, he just said he is on his way here."

Kate nods and says. "I get it, I mean if I was married to him I wouldn't let him out of my sight!" Ash blinks at her friend and says. "Too bad he is all mine!"

Chris gets out of his car and walks in and the nurse says. "Hello again." He waves and heads into the elevator and Lilly runs in and says as the doors close. "Hello, Evans."

He shakes his head and waits for the doors to open.

She looks at him and says. "What's going on?"

He says as he looks at the doors. "Nothing you need to know." The doors open and he walks out and He hears Ashley talking to Jake in the hallway.

Lilly looks at Ash and Ash meets Lilly's eyes and she turns ice cold.

Ash looks at Chris and says. "I missed you." He kisses her lips and Ashley pulls away from his lips and smiles at him. Lilly says. "Hmm, nice to see you too Ash."

Ashley looks at her and Chris says to Jake as they shake hands. "Hey, man thanks for looking out for my girl." Ash smiles and Lilly walks away.

Chris hugs Ashley and she wraps her arms around his waist and he kisses her head again.

He says as he looks at her. "Want to head home?" She nods and says. "Sure." They get the things and Kate says. "So you two heading home?"

Chris nods and says as Ash grabs her leggings. "Yeah," Ashely says as she gently places her hand on Chris's arm. "I'm going to get changed." he nods and smiles as she walks away.

At home.

Ashley walks into the house and Chris shuts the door and says. "Hm, I think the dogs are sleeping." she smiles and looks at him and says. "Jeee couldn't tell."

He smiles and Ashley sits on the couch and Chris says as he steps into the kitchen ."Want something to eat or drink?" She looks at him and says. "Water please."

He grabs a cup and fills it with water and says as he hands her the cup. "Want to talk about it or just cuddle?"

Ash looks at Chris and says as she wraps her arms around his waist. 'I just want to lay here with you for a while." He rubs her arm and says as he smiles. "Okay, we can do that too." She thinks back to her finding out she was going to have a baby and then she falls asleep on Chris and he smiles at her while she sleeps.
