What About Us?

Part 32

Time lap: a week.

Ashley is prepping for thanksgiving at Chris's side of the family, she is baking pie when her brother calls from New York. She picks up and says as she is rolling out some dough. "Hey, Happy Thanksgiving!!"

He says over the phone. "Hey Ash, Happy Thanksgiving, are you coming tonight?" Ash thinks and says. "Oh, Crap! No sorry, I am spending it with Chris's family, Maybe for Christmas, we'll be there."

Jake says. "Oh no worries sis, how are things there?" Ashley grabs her oven mitts and pulls the pie out and says as she looks at Aden who is playing on his playmat. "Things are good, just keeping an eye on Aden, Chris said he is ten minutes out," Jake says. "So, Kate told me something about you and a doctor? What's with that?"

Ashley sighs and says. "I was hoping to talk to you, Um they found something about me after Aden was born, nothing too bad but they said to run some scans, I need to talk to Chris about it too," She hears the door open and Ashley says. "Chris is back, talk later," Jake says. "Ashley, wait." She walks into the living room and says to Her brother. "Yes?"

Jake says. "Talk to Chris right now, Kate and I want you to get over this without him getting upset, please talk to him." She nods and says. "I will don't worry so much," Jake says. "We love ya." She smiles and says. "Love you too." She hangs up and Chris is taking his jacket off in the hallway.

Ashley smiles when his eyes meet hers and he walks to her and hugs her saying in her ear. "I missed you, Happy Thanksgiving." Ashley pulls away and says as she looks into his eyes. "I missed you too, How was the trip?"

Chris and Ashley walk to their son who is giggling at them. Chris picks up his son and says. "I missed you as well Aden, I hope mommy was good."

He smiles and Ashley smiles at him. He says. "The trip, it was good, I am more wondering how you are after Stan was here, Did he hurt you?"

Ashley touches Chris's cheek and says with a big smile. "Don't worry about that honey, it's the holidays just have a good next two months, it's Aden's first Thanksgiving today,"

Chris says. "But honey." She kisses his lips softly and then pulls away and says. "I love you, Mister Evans." He grins and says. "I love you more misses Evans."

Ashley thinks back to what Jake said to her. "Talk to Chris..." Ashley smiles and says. "We have to talk about um something when you're able to."

Chris looks at her and says. "What's wrong?" She says with a fake smile. "It's just something important when you can let me know." She walks back to baking.

Chris looks at Aden and says. 'What does she want to talk about uh?" He smiles at Aden and says. "You wouldn't know."

He sets Aden down for his morning nap and walks behind Ashley and says he has his hands on her waist. "What's going on?" She smiles when he kisses her cheek. Chris rubs her arms and she says. "I don't know how to tell you."

Chris has her turn around and he says as he looks into her tear-filled eyes. "Hey, Baby, talk to me please."

Ashley looks away and says. "I don't want to talk about it, I'm scared of you..leaving me," Chris says as he brushes her hair behind her ear. "I will never leave you, What's wrong?"

Ashley says. "Aden's going to be an only child." She says. "I know you wanted a big family Chris but my doctor said that after my car crashes it's made me not able to have kids, Aden's a miracle that he's here."

Ashley talks about the scans and tests she is going through, Chris just stands there nodding. Holding her hands as she shakes talking about it.

Chris nods and Ashley looks at him and says. "So, that's what Kate and Jake know, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner but I had to get the tests done to know for sure."
