Part 20

Time skip: 2 weeks.

Chris walks into the house and hears Kate and Ashley talking in the kitchen and he says as he walks in. "Hey, What's going on here?" Ash says as she gives him a quick kiss. "Kate just wanted to help out for the party tomorrow."

He gets some icing and says. "Hmm." He tastes it and says with a grin. "Good icing girls" Ash looks at him and says as she shakes her head and grins ."Okay if you're just going to be eating then no helping us babe we have a day for all of this to be ready"

He holds his hands up and says as he back into the living room. "Okay okay, honey calm down." She smirks and he smiles and says. "Love you, babe!"

Ash shakes her head and gets back to cooking and Kate says to her. "So...You going to tell me what it is?"

Ashley looks at Kate and says. 'We talked about this Bestie, Chris and I want to surprise our family and friends about what the baby is." Kate rolls her eyes and says. "But I am your best friend, come on, Just onnnnee, tinnnyyy, hint?"

Chris says from the living room. "Nope!" Ashley smiles and says. "Yes, you are my best friend. But Chris and I agreed to wait, and yes we do know the gender."

Kate rolls her eyes and says. "So unfair" She smiles and Chris says from the living room. "You'll know tomorrow, kate."

Ashley nods and says. "Yeah Kate, don't worry." kate says. "Soo, not one hint?" Ash shakes her head and says. "Nope."

Ashley grabs some of the cookies and starts decorating them. Chris says from the living room. "Need help, Honey?" She looks at him and says. "No, you rest, you had a busy day so I'm okay," Kate says. "I am here to help her anyway, So listen to your wife." Chris smiles and says. "I try too, but I know how tired she is."

Ashley gets a text and sees it's from someone she doesn't know. She walks to Chris and says. "Hey, babe?" She holds her phone out and says. "Someone texted me asking to talk, I don't know who that is though." He takes her phone and says. "Hm."

Chris says under his breath. "Slate," He says as he stands up and hands her phone back. "Don't worry, I'll take care of it." 

He walks away and Ash says as she glances at her phone. "Evans, who is it?" He grabs his phone from the office and walks back out saying. "My ex, she wants to talk to you." Ash crosses her arms and says. "Which ex?" Chris looks at her and says. "I said I'll handle it, I don't want you to-'

Ashley cuts him off saying. "Chris, I am stressing already! Let me talk to her." He shakes his head and says. "Ashley I said no" She looks at him and says. "Give me her number." He sighs and says. "Fine, But, If she hurts you I don't want you talking to her again. Got it?" She nods and says. 'Yes, Sir"

He hands her his phone so she can dial the number from her phone.

Ashley says. "It's ringing." Chris sighs and starts pacing. "Damn, I still don't like this idea!" Ash looks at her husband and says. "Hello? Is this Slate?"

She walks away and says. "Ah yes Hi, I got a text from you asking you to talk to me? Right okay, we can meet at the coffee shop down the road. Okay, Bye."

She hangs up and Kate says. 'Who was that?" Chris says. "What did she say?" Ash says as she looks at Chris. "She wants to talk," Chris says. "About?" Kate says. 'I feel like the third wheel here you two!" She crosses her arms and Ash says. "About you, Chris."

He says. "Oh?" Ash nods and says. "And I have to get to the coffee shop soon, so I need to get ready." She walks up to Chris seeing that he is worried and she takes his hands and says as she looks into his eyes. "I promise I will be safe, and I will be kind..even if she deserves nothing from us." He smiles at her joke and says. "I love you"
