2. Awakening

"You will learn the truth when you reach the cellar-"

"KEEP HIM SAFE!"

I gasp as I wake up from my sleep drenched in my own sweat. I catch my breath and focus my eyes on the window in front of my bed I could see the moon's crescent shape light up my room with its faint glow.

After the day that Shiganshina fell I spent most nights sleeping wherever I could. But on one of those nights I had the most realistic dream. It was an old man and his kid. He was frantic and the whole time he was telling his kid how the future of humanity hinged on him being able to control his power. The dream felt less like a dream and more of a memory. But it wasn't my memory. It felt so real for something so impossible.

I've had that dream every night since the first time I had it. That's to say I don't get much sleep nowadays. I never saw their faces though. The father and his son. It was like the dream didn't want me to see. Not that it matters it's just a stupid dream.

I try and fail miserably to go back to bed. After a few minutes of failure I stand from my bed and sneak out of my room and walk around the training grounds.

"Somethings coming I can feel it" I whisper to myself. I take a seat on the side of the stream not far from the grounds. I sit there and listen to the water for what seemed like only a minute. But when I look up the sky lacked the moon's presence and the sun crept up over the horizon.

Today is the day we choose our futures. I stand up from my spot on the ground and head back to the sleeping quarters before anyone had woken up. When I get back to my room I figured there was no use in me laying back down so I just get dressed instead.

Short Time Skip

The 104th was charged with cannon duty on top of wall rose. I was cleaning a cannon when I heard Eren get all pissy because Connie decided to join the scouts. Even though it's his choice to make I can't say I'm thrilled. I mean I may want to die but that doesn't mean I want my friends following me to my grave. But I'm proud of him anyway, who knew the kid had balls?

Apparently, though Connie wasn't the only one that Erens little hissy fit inspired. The others continued talking about the scouts and what choices they plan to make and  I went back to cleaning cannons before I noticed Sahsa approaching us.

"Can you guys keep a secret?" Oh no, what in the walls did this girl do now?

"I helped myself to the officer's pantry" Of course you did. I facepalm myself before getting back to work, this girl is going to be the death of me one day I swear it. Her and her gluttony.

Meat has been a rare commodity since the fall of wall maria and the loss of most of our farm land and this girl just stole it.

Damn this girl's got gall. It only took a little bit of convincing before the rest of them were on board with her little act of treason. I couldn't help but smirk to myself about their behavior.
