6. Devoid of Stars

<Y/N's POV>

After the trial, Eren was ordered to go with Levi squad to stay at this place in the woods where he could safely train his titan ability away from the public eye. I on the other hand was ordered to stay at the research facility with Squad leader Hanji.

The trial made it apparent to everyone that there are two people who can keep my ability in check. Eren and squad leader Hanji. And of course, they'd rather put me in the hands of a squad leader instead of a stupid kid.

Since joining Hanji at the research facility we haven't done much except study titan history and fill out reports. Hanji spends hours going on and on about her research and since I don't really sleep all that well it gives her the perfect opportunity to ramble. She's so enthusiastic all the time too. We honestly couldn't be more different.

Pur Erwins orders I am to stay with Hanji until the day the recon mission happens. Then I will be assigned to Levi squad until the mission has ended. As far as I know, Hanji, Moblit, and I will be riding to wherever it is Eren is staying so that she can start her research on Eren tomorrow.

Since for the time being, I am under their custody they've studied me plenty. We did find out quite a few things about my ability though.

Whenever I get hurt my body heals at an accelerated rate. Titan steam also emerges from the wound when it heals even though I don't have the ability to transform.

We've tested my physical strength and combat skills plenty and let's just say I owe her a new assistant. She's also studied me when I slept which I honestly thought was weird when she first suggested it but after she found out about the dreams I've been having she said she wanted to watch me sleep.

Turns out I don't snore and my average sleep time is around three hours. But what I don't understand is she's not a superhuman so I know she has to sleep sometimes.

At first, I thought about it for a while. That was until today after morning meals I went to her room that doubles as her office to ask her about one of our recent experiments and I caught her sleeping at her desk.

They fell asleep with their glasses on and everything. I stepped into their room as quietly as I could and slipped their glasses off their face. I picked her up as gently as I could bridal style and walked her over to her bed on the other side of the room.

I set her down and brushed a stray piece of hair from her face. She may not sleep as much as she should but she is a peaceful sleeper when she does manage to fall asleep.

"Sleep well Hanji" I whisper to her as I stand up from her bed and make my way to the door. When I opened the door Moblit was standing there smirking at me.

"What are you smiling for?" I ask coldly.

"Nothing. It's just I've never seen you act like that you're usually so cold. I mean I just met you and I already know your personality is absolute shit. But your different with the squad leader" He points to the sleeping Hanji behind me.

I don't know if I should be offended by his statement but even so, he was right. She makes me different and it pisses me off sometimes. It definitely pisses me off because for the life of me I don't get why!

"Whatever," I say coldly as I walk past Moblit. I make my way halfway down the hall before stopping.

"Let the squad leader sleep. It's been a long week" I say to him. I don't turn around or even turn my head to face him. I just continuing walking.
