*September 1st 1992*

"Aurora time for school." Snape tells his eldest child. "What are you wearing?" He laughs at her outfit.

Thigh high white and green striped socks, a white pleaded shirt with a green shirt tucked in. Aurora's curly hair secured back by a beret.

"I just wanted to look nice today." The little girl bits her lip looking down.

"And why is that?" Snape sat down on her canopy bed fixing his robes.

"No reason." She smiles up at her father.

"Would this have to do with a young Mr. Malfoy?" He allows the slightest of smiles appear on his face.

"No." She looks at the ground kicking her foot.

Snape looks at the floor his eyes flickering emotions of sorrow.

"Change before we leave, you know Hogwarts has a dress code for younger students." With that he walks out of her room robes swooshing behind him.

"Draco." Aurora screams running up to the blonde jumping into his arms.

"Rora." He hugs back.

"I missed you." She blushes

Before Draco could speak, he's pulled away from the small girl by his father.

"Lucius, Narcissa. Hello." Celeste smiles as she approaches the Malfoys.

"Celeste." Lucius smiles. His grip firm on Draco's shoulder, walking stick in his hand

"How lovely it is to see you." Celeste says slightly shoving Aurora aside making room for Serenity to be in eyeline with Draco. "You know Serenity." She smiles at the small girl at her feet.

"How could one forget such a beautiful little girl?"

Aurora felt like she was hit with a train. Not once has Lucius Malfoy ever complimented her or anyone but himself for that matter. But here he was praising the small dark haired girl in front of him.

"Aurora," Celeste looks at her eldest with distaste, "Take Archer to the train. I need to talk to the Malfoy's for a moment."

"Yes mother." Aurora bows her head taking her little brother's hand. "You coming Draco?" She asks the blonde in front of her.

"No, Draco won't be joining you at all." Lucius looks at her with a look of disgust. "He'll be showing Serenity around the train. You can go along." He scowls.

Aurora looks to her mother wondering why it's okay for another adult to be so disrespectful to her child.

"I'll catch you later Aurora alright?" Draco slightly smiles before fixing his gaze on Serenity.

The sorting ceremony is what every first year student looks forward too. The inevitability of being sorted into one of four houses based on your personality at eleven. Most likely to follow in your parents' footsteps being placed in their house. Who's to say a Gryffindor isn't truly a Slytherin only because their parents weren't. A Slytherin who is truly a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw is a Hufflepuff.

The sorting hat is always the most intimidating part of Hogwarts. It decides your future. Two people could become best friends on the train and be sorted in different houses never to talk to one another again.
