I had gone back to work. Back to waking up early, back to stress and back to seeing Mr Brown who I despised. Kate and her husband have sent a lot of referrals to me. I was busier as I got more people to plan occasions for and more people to bake for.

My in-laws were wonderful people. I wonder how a sweet woman like Kate bore that spawn of Satan.

Kazeem as usual, pretended I didn't exist, which was fine by me. Except for the constant glaring I got from him, he has completely avoided me, which made life easier for me.

In all, life was good. At least, for now.

I headed out of my office with two small boxes and I entered the cab I ordered on Taxify. I headed for Kazeem's office and trust me, I wanted to be anywhere but there. It's been raining since yesterday and everywhere was so messy. I brought out my phone and called my mum. She picked up immediately

"Mummy mummy" I greeted and I could hear her smile

"Ada beekee (beautiful daughter) how are you?" She asked

"Mummy I'm fine jare. How are you? How is business?" I asked

"Fine oooo" she replied. "Chisom will you stop talking to that man and get into the kitchen" I heard my mum scold the girl and I smiled. Chisom liked to meet the customers. According to her, they were potential husbands.

"Mummy I will come to the shop tomorrow. I want to eat nkwobi" I smiled

"So you only come when you want to eat something ishiaki (coconut head)"

I laughed and shook my head

"We're here ma," the driver said and I checked to see we were parked in front of a tall glass building. I paid him, inserting my earphones into my phone and then my ear, placing my phone in the pocket of my jean trouser, then I carried the boxes and left his car.

"Mummy I just got to Kazeem's office. I'll call Gozie later this night and talk to you"

"Okay. We will talk later" she replied and I ended the call. I headed into the building and everyone stared at me. I walked to the receptionist and offered her a small smile which she gave back.

"Is Kazeem in his office?" I asked

"Do you have an appointment?" She asked

Yes, you heard her right. A month into our married life and people barely know that we're married. None of us wanted to spread the good news so we stuck to acting like strangers.

"No. But call him and tell him Ebby is here" I replied and she narrowed her eyes at me

Like girl shut your damn eyes

I wasn't sure he would want to see me but I'm very sure he would want to know why I was here.

"I'm sorry ma but I can't let you up" she replied and I sighed. I placed the boxes on her counter and rubbed my forehead. I brought out my phone and tried to call Kazeem but then I remembered I didn't have his number. I called his dad instead who picked up

"Ebby. What a pleasant surprise" he sounded so happy that I called

Sorry dear. I only need your son's number.

Now I felt bad for calling to ask for Kazeem's number. "Sir please can I get Kazeem's number?"

"Ohh" he sounded disappointed and I rubbed my forehead "why don't you have it?"

"I've never needed it" I replied

"It's okay. I'll send it right away. And I hope the next time you call, it's because you want to hear from me" he replied
