"You're late," said Draco as Jessica ran up to the top floor of the Astronomy tower. He stood by the rails, looking out over the black lake, the moonlight casting a silver glow off his blonde hair.

"I was with Professor Umbridge, giving her information about Trelawney," Jessica breathed, clutching her left side. Next week, she needed to build her fitness to play a full Quidditch match.

"Well, well, Clarke, siding with us?" asked Draco airily, twirling his wand between his fingers. "If I knew all it took was a bit of rough play to make you see sense, I would've put my hands on you long ago."

"Yeah, about that," Jessica retorted, grabbing a telescope from the back and setting it on the floor. The positivity she felt from giving the note to Angelina started dwindling quickly."You still have working legs because I didn't tell Fred and George what you did to me. You better pray I don't change my mind."

"Oh, I'm hoping you do," Draco replied, turning around to see her crouched beside him, "because all they'd have to do is give me as much as a paper cut, and they'd be expelled in less than a minute."

"Why?" Jessica asked, standing up straight and facing him, "Is daddy going to come and fight little Draco's problems for him instead of being a man and fighting himself?"

Draco reached across so that he pressed Jessica against the rails with his own body flat against her, his hands on either side locking her in. "Watch it, Clarke; it's a pretty high fall from this tower."

He bent forward so that her back had to arch over the rails to get away from him, hanging over the 100ft drop below. She gripped the railings to keep her stable. "The only reason you're not plummeting down it right now is that I need you to pass this project. We only get the grade if we both hand it in alive."

He pushed himself off with a sneer, and Jessica pulled herself back up slowly. After he had done it to her a few days before, she started noticing Draco's threatening behaviours towards the other students more and more. She had seen him push around Neville with Crabbe and Goyle, as well as pulling curses on the younger years, but what put him apart from the usual school bully was how his friends treated him. He verbally attacked them every day, like a weird form of control, and they just let him do it.

Crabbe and Goyle constantly wanted to prove themselves to him after he repeatedly called them stupid, and were only rewarded after they did the muscle on his behalf, whilst Pansy only strived to please him after he would ignore her or degrade her any time she showed any affection towards him. Even Theo and Blaise were afraid of him and just wanted to be on his good side to avoid the alternative. He was the ring leader of the pack, and they had to stay in line. To live a relatively stress-free life, Jessica was learning she would have to be the same.

"Fine," said Jessica as Draco got his telescope, "let's get it over and done with."

Jessica sat down on the floor of the astronomy tower to continue setting up her stuff, getting out the blank star chart that they had to fill in from her pocket from her pocket. Draco sat down with his things next to her, though he left quite a big gap between them.

"So, Professor Sinistra has asked us to fill out this chart, but I don't know where to begin," said Jessica, looking at the chart on her lap. Are we just doing stars, or are we including moons as well? I know Europa was mentioned, but I..."

"It's just stars," Draco sharply interrupted, looking through his telescope. For Merlin's sake, this will take forever if you haven't paid attention."

Jessica stared at him and repressed the urge to hit him on the back of the head. She returned to look through her telescope, and the pair sat looking up at the night sky. The rustling of trees from the forbidden forest was the only sound to fill the silence between them. After a while, Jessica realised that what she was looking at didn't match what was on Professor Sinistra's chart, so she began fiddling with her machine to find the correct constellation.
