I sat in the cafe with Nate and Dan, I was catching up on some reading that I missed while I was...elsewhere.
"I can't believe you didn't get that girls number." Nate commented and I kicked his leg he winced "Ouch, Rose."
"Foot slipped" I sighed not looking up from what I was reading
"How long is Bree in Texas? Maybe she should help you with your paper." Dan retorted
"I'm sorry I just expected more game from the guy...."
"That is dating me, why would he need game Nathaniel? Go ahead I dare you to finish that sentence." I challenged and he held his hands up.
"Wait there she is." I looked to where Dan was motioning. Kate sat down at a table by herself and took out her phone "That's Kate, the girl I talked about. She's right there." Nate turned around.
"That girl? That is a sign..."
"That I should kick you in the balls, yes I completely agree. I am going to talk to her myself." I stood up and walked over then sat her table.
"Kate right? I'm Rose you met my boyfriend Dan earlier." she jumped but looked up to me
"Yeah."
"So Dan told me that it's your first day. How is it going?" I wonder
"It's been a harder adjustment than expected." I hummed and her phone beeped
"Well the boys are doing whatever it is they're doing why don't you come over to my place like tomorrow or something. You can turn it around and make a friend."
"What about right now?" she suggested
"Sure, let me say bye to the boys and we can grab some food on the way." she nodded I headed back over.
"I will see you later okay?" Dan nodded and I kissed him"Nathaniel, behave or I will castrate you." I left
"So who was the other guy?" Kate wondered
"That was Nate, he is my brother's best friend and Dan's friend. He's an ass, you I either threaten or hurt depending on his offence."
"You hit him?"
"Twice no, wait yes. Twice I punched him once I kicked him in the balls. While having a thing with Dan's best friend V, Nate kissed Dan's sister, Jenny. Then while he was dating my best friend Blair and his previous ex girlfriend who is now my brothers girlfriend, he messed around with V like broke up with her and swore there wasn't anyone else then not long after got back with Vanessa. I then kicked him in the balls because well Dan asked me to." she was shocked
"I try not to make a habit of violence I swear. My sharp tongue and insults are usually enough. I've scared you off haven't I?"
"No, it's not that. I haven't met someone as forward." Wintered the chinese restaurant and ordered our food before taking it back to mine.
"I wasn't always like this. I kept things to my self but my actions were very public." I admitted vaguely
"So what changed? If you don't mind me asking?"
"Uh, I was in a accident. I stole a car while I was high and intoxicated and while trying to avoid a pedestrian, I crashed into a wall." I opened the door of my apartment and we set our food down.
"Oh my god. How are you even here? Sorry I..."
"No it's fine,Uh I am here by a miracle. The airbag didn't deeply so I the head injuries alone should have killed me. But after extensive surgeries and having things replaced because the rest of the damage was a list as long as both my arms. I'm here."
"Wow."
"I am so sorry that I dumped all of that on you, it's kind of like a two month friendship conversation."
"No, No it's refreshingly honest. I met a lot of people that want me to talk than listen. So how did you meet Dan?" she wondered and I laughed while prodding my food.
"I met him when I moved into this building, he lives upstairs. I do too now but it's a recent thing. We became friends and then he started dating my now adoptive sister..." I went onto briefly explain our relationship
"Have you picked a course?" I wondered
"No, there is so much to choose from, what are you studying?"
"Journalism, yah not quite as big as politics or fashion. But for some reason it speaks to me. I've been in the public eye a lot, and for once I want to be on the other side."
"I like it." she beamed

The next day when I went to check my post I found a envelope with just my first name on it.

It was a ticket to the movie premier of Fluer. I went upstairs, Dan was making coffee.
"Anything of interest or is it all catalogs?" he wondered pouring the hot brown liquid into two cups.
"I got invited to a movie premiere. By Kate." I showed him what I got "Wanna come?"
"You sure, doesn't sound like your thing?"
"I'm broadening my horizons." I grin he shrugs agreeing
