when the party's over

THE SUN WAS BARELY UP as I got out of my comfy bed to get ready for school. Yep, you guessed it. Today is the first day of classes! Woohoo! (I hope you can hear the major lump of sarcasm I just spread out there).

I turned on the light in the hallway as I walked over to our shared bathroom. I opened the door to see a very energetic Aster brushing her pearly white teeth and a very irritated Fawn tying her hair into two pigtails.

"Finally, you're awake. Aster has been talking all morning about how excited she is for school." Fawn complained as she rolled her forest green eyes.

"Hey! I am just excited to see Justin." Aster cheerily said as she spit out toothpaste into the small farmhouse sink.

Justin is Aster's crush. He's a fourth year and is such an ass. He's friends with Aria and her minions. Aster is always trying to find the best in people, and I appreciate that, but I don't want her to get hurt by thinking that everyone has good in them. Aria and Justin are both dicks that don't deserve happiness.

They're bullies, and yes, I know that I can be mean at times but I do it in a lovingly way, and when I tell people to move out of my way, I do that out of kindness. Y'know?

"Aster, Justing is not a good person! You're better than this." I said as I pulled my red toothbrush out from the metal holder.

"Thank you, Iris. At least someone here knows that there is not good in everyone." Fawn exclaimed to a pouty Aster.

"I just think that his mean-ness is an act. He is a nice person."

"Okay, then what is one nice thing he has ever done for you?" Fawn was now applying lipgloss to her lips as she stared at Aster, waiting for an answer.

"Well... he's, um... he's picked up my pencil!" Aster's face lit up as she thought back to the memory.

"And what did he do with said pencil after he picked it up?" Fawn asked, prying even further.

"He... he broke it and then threw it away." Aster said in defeat.

"See! He's not a good person."

"I guess you're right." Aster walked out of the bathroom before slipping into her own room and closing the door shut.

"I think that went pretty well." Fawn smiled into the mirror.

I rolled my eyes, "Oh, shut up. Go apologize to her."

"Fine, mom." I laughed and gave her a short pat on the back before she knocked on Aster's door to apologize.

I finished brushing my teeth as I washed my face and walked back into my room. I opened my small walk in closet, taking out a pleated black skirt, a white button up, a maroon blazer with the school crest, and a mustard yellow and red necktie. I threw them on and looked in the mirror, giving myself one last check.
