I SAT BESIDE THE MURKY CREAK as the sounds of chirping birds and swaying trees surrounded me. I needed a getaway. I needed to leave Orphic Academy, just for a bit.

After that talk with Louis in the dining hall three days ago, it's been really... weird between us? We don't talk much in class, and I have barely been sabotaging his whole existence. It's kind of making me feel, empty? Like, tormenting him was my entire life here. What do I do now?

Honestly, I don't even know why it's awkward. I mean, what we last said was that we didn't mean what we said during the truth potion experiment. We weren't lying, we didn't mean what we said. So, why is it so awkward?

I sat her for a couple more minutes, taking in the stillness in the nature and the calmness around me.

"Iris!" Well, there goes the calmness.

I turned around and saw Thomas running down the grassy hill and coming towards me. He seemed out of breath and he had deep eyebags.

"What? Is something wrong?" I quickly asked, searching for answers through his anxious and jumpy self.

"I called you like fifty times! I thought you were dead!" He yelled, still standing as he began pacing back and forth.

"Sorry, my phone was on silent. What's wrong?" I turned my phone on as the bright screen flashed in my eyes.

Yep, he called me fifty seven times.

"What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You only come here when you're furiously angry or when you're sad and you don't seem angry." I looked down at my hands and played with the rings on my fingers, avoiding Thomas'' intense staring.

"There's nothing wrong. I'm fine."

"You're lying." Thomas' eyebrows raised as he sat down beside me.

"I'm not lying. I'm fine. Trust me, I'm good," I plastered a fake smile and pointed to the obvious hoax. "see."

"I won't leave until you tell me." He took snacks out from his pockets as I realized he want joking. He's actually going to stay here as long as it takes.

"Fine!" I flailed my arms in the air as he curled his mouth into a smile. "a few days ago, Louis and I did a truth potion thing in Mr. Otevia's class—"
