" Are you really putting us on baby duty tonight?" Drew asks. Drew was sprawled across one couch and Brendon was sitting on the ground with Melody. They were playing with some of Melody's toys. Niall and Liam were standing near the door to leave.
" Yes. Papa and I need a night out. We'll be back before 11 and I want Melody in bed asleep by the time we get back." Niall says.
" We know how to take care of her dad." Brendon says. Niall nods his head. He makes his way to Melody. He crouched down to Melody's height. She smiles at him.
" Dada." Melody says.
" Hi princess. Be good for your brothers. Don't be too much trouble for them." Niall says. Melody giggles as Niall kisses the top of her head.
" C'mon Ni, we have dinner reservations." Liam says. Niall stands up and walks back to Liam.
" Oh, be quiet. I know." Niall says. Niall walks out of the house. Liam looks at his boys.
" Best behavior. And no Sage over. I mean it." Liam says.
" Yeah, yeah, yeah." Drew says. Liam walks out of the door. Melody looks at the door with sad eyes.
" Dada? Papa?" Melody asks. Brendon could tell that she was going to start crying. He tries to distract her with her baby doll.
" It's okay Melody. Lets play with baby." Brendon says. He waves her baby doll in front of her face, but Melody was not having it. She pushes the doll down and stands up. She runs over to the door where Liam and Niall left.
She sat in front of the door with tears in her eyes. She already missed her daddy and papa.
Brendon walks over to her. He picks her up and brings her back to the living room. But she was squirming in his arms.
" No Bee." Melody says.
" Melody, stop. Lets play with baby." Brendon says.
" No." Melody says. Brendon lets out a sigh and places Melody down. She runs back to the door. Brendon looks at Drew.
" Can you help me out please?" Brendon asks.
" I think ya got it." Drew says. He was staring at his phone. Brendon rolls his eyes. Brendon hates when Drew doesn't help take care of Melody.
" Melody, please come here. What if we put on The Little Mermaid? Want to watch some fishies?" Brendon says. Melody perks up at her favorite movie. She walks over to Brendon.
" Yeah, I know you can't resist fishies." Brendon says. He holds his hand out for her. She grabs his hand and Brendon leads her to the couch. Brendon places her on the couch.
He grabs the remote and turns on a streaming service. He grabs Melody's baby doll and favorite baby blanket. He walk back to the couch where Melody was patiently waiting for him. He sits down and hands Melody her baby doll and blankie. He turns on The Little Mermaid and put the remote down. Melody focuses her attention on the tv screen and cuddles into Brendon.
" See? You had it." Drew says. He stands up from the couch," And now if you don't mind me, I'm leaving."
" DJ, you can't leave. Dad and papa said so." Brendon says.
" I'll be back before they get home." Drew says.
" But we're both supposed to be watching Melody." Brendon says.
" She's doing fine with you. Besides, she'll probably fall asleep during the movie anyway. You don't need my help." Drew says.
" You're not allowed to leave though." Brendon says.
" I have a month left before I leave for uni. I'm taking every chance I can get to hang out with my friends and Sage." Drew says. He walks to where the shoes are located. He slips his shoes on.
" Oh, and if you tell dad and pa about this, I'll kick your arse." Drew calls while walking out the door.
Brendon lets out a sigh and looks at Melody. Melody had a sad look on her face. Brendon kisses her forehead.
" Don't be sad Melody. We get to watch the fishies and DJ doesn't." Brendon says.
" Dada." Melody says.
" Oh, I know you miss daddy, but he'll be back soon. But lets watch the fishies." Brendon says. He points to the tv screen. Melody focuses back on the screen.
Brendon pulls his phone out. He dials his dad's phone number and presses his phone to his ear.
" Bren, baby, is everyone alright?" Niall immediately asks as soon as he answers the phone.
" Yes, we're all good. I'm actually calling because DJ left and told me not to tell you." Brendon says. Brendon could hear Niall sigh.
" We'll take care of it when we're home." Niall says.
" Don't tell him I told you. He said he'll kick my arse." Brendon says.
" I won't and he's not kicking your arse on my watch. Melody is fine though, right?" Niall says.
" She's a little upset that you and papa are gone, but I'm distracting her with The Little Mermaid." Brendon says.
" Okay, good. Now papa is yelling at me to hang up so I love you and tell Melody I love her too." Niall says.
" Will do. Bye dad." Brendon says. Brendon hangs up and looks at Melody. It looked like she was fighting sleep. Her eyes kept fluttering closed, but then would quickly open back up.
Brendon looks at the time on his phone. It was close to her bedtime. Brendon pushes Melody a bit. She wakes up more.
" C'mon Melody, lets get you off to bed." Brendon says.
Melody shakes her head," No Bee."
" I know you want to watch The Little Mermaid, but you can't when your eyes are closed. It's time for bed. I'll let you pick the bedtime story." Brendon says. Melody lets out a sigh.
" Otay Bee." Melody says. She lifts her arms up. Brendon stands up and picks Melody up. He places her on his hip. He walks upstairs to Melody's room.
Once in her room, Brendon places Melody on the ground. She walks over to her bookcase of books. Brendon goes to her changing table and sees that Niall already had pajamas picked out for Melody. Brendon turns back to Melody.
" Come here Melody." Brendon says. Melody walks back to him and shows him a Little Mermaid themed book.
" Yes we can read that tonight." Brendon says. He picks Melody up and places her on her changing table. He changed her out of her regular clothes and changed her nappy. He slipped her pajamas on.
When she was all ready for bed, Brendon sat with her in the rocking chair. He started to read to her to calm her down for bed. Halfway through the book, Melody fell asleep. Brendon picks her up and places her in her cot. He walks out her room, turns the light off, and closes the door. He walks to his own room. He turns his tv and game station on.
He ends the night playing video games.

I noticed that I never really have anything to talk about. My life is boring (especially during this pandemic) and I don't have anything worth sharing. When I tell you I do nothing, I literally sit around and do nothing.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Like I said, only one chapter left.
