"pietro, what the hell"

DINGLE, IRELAND

THE STREETS Were empty as the girl walked under the lights. She had traveled for months before finally settling in the quaint town and fell in love with it soon after.

With the streets nearly always crowded she found it easy to blend in. And once darkness overtook she found herself wandering constantly, whether it was late at night or early in the morning.

After years of looking over her shoulder she finally felt safe enough to relax, a pleasure she hadn't had in a very long time. She had picked up a small job at a local book store—shocking—and grew to love her coworkers.

Another plus of the small town was that they had hardly heard of the Avengers, so they had never heard of her.

The looming threats had finally ceased, whether they had given up or simply couldn't find her she wasn't sure, but she no longer cared.

Sure, she loved saving people and being an Avenger, but there had always been a small part of her that craved a normal life. Working a normal job, not consistently being threatened with death, having friends, being a normal 22 year old girl.

This town gave her that, a normal life. A fresh start that she had always wished to see but never had the luxury. The only downfall was missing those she had grown closest too.

She had multiple burner phones, switching out every now and then to contact those she loved. But she could never talk for too long.

In the beginning it was very hectic. Pietro had ran away with her as promised, but after signing the Accords, Ross kept him on a tight leash. So when he randomly left the country things went downhill quickly.

He didn't want to leave the girl but he had no choice, and while she understood that it hurt. They were so close to being together but he could never give up the life he literally volunteered himself for.

They had many fights over their futures, her wanting to finally settle but him not being able to due to his commitment to being a superhero. And he inevitably left her, alone in a hotel room in Ireland.

She sat there for hours after he left, simultaneously sobbing and punching a wall—which she had to pay repair fees for in the end. He broke her, and she wasn't sure if she could ever be okay again. Until she was.

For a while she found herself drowning her heartbreak into a bottle—ice cream on the really bad nights—and random men. She wasn't proud of it but she couldn't truly care less at the time.
