Chapter 3

[Kaminari's POV]

I had hardly slept last night.

It wasn't that I had a nightmare or anything childish like that. I just couldn't physically sleep. It's normally like that when it's my first night at UA. Or any bed that I haven't slept on for a while.

The sun's blinding light is in my face, blaring mercilessly through the small gap in my curtains, searing the backs of my eyes. An inaudible groan gets lost into the duvets. The ones which were unable to provide me with any comfort, no matter how aggressively I'd snuggled into them. It was pretty early when I decided to give in, knowing sleep was far beyond my reach for that night, the rising sun now directly peering through my window, limiting my options and causing me to make a decision.

The time was 4am, normally the time Kirishima and other people would be exercising. I'm more of an evening person, finding it somewhat easier to abuse myself with a workout and not have to worry about sleeping through another one of Aizawa's lectures - not that I'm experienced in that myself!

I check my phone for notifications before finding some music to wake me up mentally. To boost my positivity and prepare myself for a good first day. I then flip myself upright and push to a standing position, yawning hard and rubbing the heaviness from my eyelids, re-adjusting my night shirt and sauntering half-blind towards the bathroom. I have been in my dorm room long enough to remember how to navigate around it, so it wasn't a complete struggle to get there.

I hum quietly to the melody playing, fiddling around a little to successfully get the comb through my hair, wincing as it continued to tug at the roots attached to my scalp. But, eventually, the wild mess was tamed, more than enough of it left to be tied into a ponytail.

I put on a pair of shoes along with a hoodie, instantly stuffing my hands into its pocket to seek the last of the heat it carried. I then savour my short breakfast before heading outside. To where, I didn't know. I just pick a route and walk there, remembering to take my phone - mostly because I might get lost and end up relying on a navigator. I did manage to get back with a neat forty-five minutes left until school started. It was then that I decided to get ready, pulling my hair from its tie and fluffing it out a little. I tried to do everything as close to perfect as I could, feeling refreshed. As if I was ready to start a successful first day!

I double-check whether all my stationary was still in my bag, reassuring myself that I had gotten everything I needed, before swinging the door open.

And I don't make another step.

"Heck, I wasted half of my savings on those roses!"

There, in front of me, were a cluster of flower petals. Rose petals. Red just like his hair. Just like his eyes. Bakugo was on the other end of the floor.

There is no way this was Kirishima's work!

But, why does my heart think so?

I can't describe it, but I could feel that this was Kirishima's doing. Maybe he grew too excited and got the wrong door number? But maybe I had gotten it all wrong?

No.

He loves Bakugo!

My head was in shambles, staring bewilderedly at the red on the carpet, thinking deeply on what this meant. What it could mean. Kirishima wouldn't randomly do this! He would've asked me beforehand!

I blink a few times, continuing to stare at the pile of crimson, before my eyes focus on something hidden within them.

A sliver of paper.
