EDITED

"It's Monday morning and Beacon Hills High School is opening today after being closed Thursday and Friday. Police are still looking for alleged killer, Derek Hale..." If Haylie had been one second earlier she wouldn't have needed to wince in apology.

"God, I'm so sorry." She whispered and removed her hand from the alarm clock as she pressed her lips to Derek's naked chest.

"Four days and you still haven't set that to buzzer." He mumbled while getting out of the bed and walking straight into the bathroom.

Haylie would have thought he was annoyed at her but then a knock sounded on her door. Sometimes she forgot how useful the heightened hearing was when she was letting a wanted killer stay in the sheriffs house.

When she opened her door her dad gave her pyjamas a once over while he stood in his uniform. "Hey kid. Staying home?" She cocked her head at him making him sigh. "Can I request that you stay home?" She cocked her head the other way. "I'm fine with you taking another day."

"Dad, I'm fine. I want to go back to school." He nodded and she took another look at his uniform. "Any leads?"

He didn't want to shake his head as he was expecting disappointment so instead he shrugged. "We've got another search party out tonight."

The reminder of the full moon tonight sent her heart beating harder. "You've been working double. You should stay home tonight." He shook his head. "Dad, please you need to be careful out there."

"Haylie I'm always careful."

"Especially tonight."

"What's tonight?" She shut her mouth and he took the hint of fear in her eyes and reached forward to remind himself his little girl was safe in his arms. Haylie accepted the hug like it was the best hug she had ever gotten. "I know it's hard for you to understand. But I'm your dad, and somebody tried to hurt my children. I can't sit here and wait for him to be caught."

There was so many things she wanted to say. She wanted to protect Derek from her dad. And she wanted to protect her dad from the Alpha. But she couldn't do that without hurting people first. So, she pulled away. "Just promise me you'll be careful." He nodded with a smile and kissed her head before moving over to Stiles room.

"Have a good day kid." He called over his shoulder just as she shut her bedroom door. When she turned back, Derek was coming out of the bathroom, pulling on his dark jeans.

"Your dads right. You can take another day."

Haylie sighed and moved over to his beautiful tall frame. Her little hands landed on his naked hips as she looked up to him. "You don't need to be worried about me. I'm going to be perfectly safe at school because the killer is going to be in my bedroom all day." She moved to her tiptoes to peck his lips but still caught the way he rolled his eyes.

He let her move past him into the bathroom but still kept his eyes on her as he stood at the door frame, pulling on a t-shirt. "Very funny. But I won't be here. I need to go back to my house, there's some things that I need."

"Do you really think the police aren't already on your old house? It's where they found you the first time they arrested you."

He nodded. "Yes, did I ever thank you for that?" She paused in putting the toothpaste on the brush and turned to see a rare hint of amusement in his eyes. "I'm going to go. I'll see you tomorrow." He moved forward but she moved back.

"Tomorrow? Won't I see you tonight?"

He sighed and folded his arms over his chest. "Full moon. Even though I'm in control, it's probably not a good idea to be around you."
