"Call it again." Scott demanded as he rummaged under his bed. Without ballet today, Haylie had yet another day of occupying her time on a Sunday with her brother and Scott.

"It's not here." She finally snapped, getting frustrated. "So, you lost your phone? Why don't you get a new one?"

"I can't afford a new one!" he yelled back as he continued searching. "I can't do this alone. We need to find Derek."

When Scott told them both what happened last night it took everything in her not to scream at him. Not to break down in floods of tears at what could have happened. Stiles stood up from his position at Scott's desk. "Well A, you're not alone. You have us." He said proudly. "And B, you said Derek walked into gunfire. He sounds pretty dead."

He didn't even flinch from it unlike Haylie who had to focus on her own phone in her hand instead of that thought. "The Argents wouldn't kill him straight away." She voiced. "They would want to use him to get the alpha."

She had already told them both about the conversation with the hunters yesterday, which also meant telling Scott about the birthmark and it's meaning, which the more she talked about, the more ridiculous it sounded.

"Well let's let them." Stiles said with a smile. "They use Derek to get to Peter. Problem solved."

Scott stood up and went to his bathroom. "Not if Peter goes to Alison to find Derek. I can't protect everyone on my own." He said throwing clothes all over the place as he came back into the bedroom. "Which means we need to find Derek first. Just help me."

Haylie didn't move from her seat but Stiles pulled himself up and sighed. "You probably dropped it when you and Derek were fighting. You know, before he was going to kill you. When you interrupted him trying to kill Jackson. Are you started to see a pattern of violent behaviour here?"

Haylie pulled her knees to her chest. The reminder of what Scott had said . While she and Jackson didn't always get on, Derek was going to kill him. Derek was going to kill someone.

"He wasn't going to kill anyone." Scott defended and made she he looked at Haylie when he said it, like he could read her mind. "And I'm not letting him die." She didn't know how much she needed that reassurance. To know that Scott still saw something in Derek that even she was beginning to think didn't exist. His head snapped to the window.

"What is it?" Haylie said and slowly stood up.

"My mom just got home from work." He slowly sat down on his bed, his face a look of confusion and devastation.

"What's she doing?"

"Crying."

Haylie moved forward and crouched down in front of him, taking his hand. "You can't protect everyone Scott."

He met her eyes. "I have to."

"Hey are you okay?" Haylie asked Alison as the three of them rode the escalator up to Macys.

Alison nodded and turned to face her. "Yeah. I just have a lot on my mind is all." While Haylie wasn't convinced, Lydia scoffed.

"You could smile at least. Ever heard the saying, 'never frown, someone could be falling in love with your smile'." When neither of the other girls reacted, Lydia nudged Alison in the arm. "Smile Alison, I'm buying you a dress."

Haylie held down her laugh and nodded. "I must admit, as far as apologies go, this is one of your best." The fact that the apology dress was because she made out with Scott a few weeks ago and nobody knew went unmentioned.

"Not as much as I'm going to ask." Alison winced making even Haylie frown in confusion.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Lydia asked.
