Lane's POV

The four of us stood in the lobby, each wondering who was gonna start with the good byes first.  I couldn't look at them without tears threatening to fall.  Soda was the first to pull me into his arms, "you get better, Laney.  You get better and come home fast."  I could tell he was starting to cry by the way his voice shook.

"Stop being a bawl baby," my voice was muffled by his shirt.

Pony was the next one to hug me, "You got this, Lane.  We'll come back and see ya soon."

I pulled an envelope out of my pocket, "will you give this to Steve so he can give it to Soph?"

Pony took the envelope, "yep."  He put it in his pocket. I knew he wouldn't read it. Darry and Soda would.

Darry came over and knelt in front of me. He took my hands in his, "It's sure gonna be different without ya around." He lifted my chin to make sure I was looking at him, "I know you don't see it, but I'm only doing this cause I love you."

"I know," I tried to hold back the tears, "I'm sorry Darry.

"I don't want you to be sorry. I want you to get better, ok?"

I nodded and wiped the tear that slipped out of my eye.

"Lane," one of the nursing staff came out, "c'mon, it's time to meet your roommate. Your brothers can come see you next weekend."

We shared a group hug before my brothers walked away from me. My heart fell to my stomach. How was I going to handle not being with them for 2 months? My brothers were all I had left.

I followed the nurse to the very end of a hallway.  She opened the door, "Bree, this is Lane.  She's going to be your new roommate."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes.  She was a complete Soc.  I could tell just by looking at her; clothes were all name brand, she had that uppity look to her, "ummm...my daddy paid for a private room."  She twirled her blond hair.

The nurse even looked annoyed, "Bree...we've told you 100 times.  This is not a vacation resort.  You do NOT get your own room."

Bree pouted, "but I don't want to room with someone like her."

"Feelings mutual," I muttered.

"Well, you two are just going to have make the best of it. Lane get unpacked. You have your first group therapy at 2. You'll be in the red group." With that the nurse walked out.

I opened the dresser on my side and put what little clothes I had in it. Thankfully, there was a laundry facility in her. I hung up my jean and leather jackets in the closet. That took all of 5 minutes.

I, then, flopped on my bed, and turned my back toward Bree. This was going to suck.
