The Duchesses of Star Base 12

Lady Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell Part One

Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell would be the young woman that Lord Andrew Charles Howard had been waiting for since he was 18 years old in 2268, but at that time she was only 13 years old.

Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell wasn't an aristocrat. She was born into an ordinary family and was born on Planet Earth in 2255.

Nuclear War broke out in 2268 when she was 13 years old and it devastated Planet Earth and with the after effects of radiation poisoning.

The radiation poisoning claimed the lives both of her father and mother and she had to go live with relatives that reluctantly took her in, however; in 2270 they heard about the relocation program by The United Federation of Planets  to relocate 500 young people to either Star Base 10 and 12 and her Uncle and Aunt signed Karissa up for the relocation program.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Howard at the time was 15 years and she had just lost of fiancee Roy L Mock of Prostrate Cancer. She was allowed to carry out his last wishes and then her Uncle and Aunt drove to the where the United Star Ship Republic was waiting for all the passengers to board.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell, age 15 years old carried her luggage by hand as she walked towards the U.S.S. Republic with 499 young people that were left unaffected by the radation and they were all declared fertile and capable of having children.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell didn't look back as she walked towards the U.S.S. Republic and she walked up the ramp  and was greeted by Captain Richards and his crew and finally the door closed and it set out on it's 4 years journey toward Star Base 10 and 12.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell spent a lot of time in the garden on the U.S.S. Republic and she ate her meals in her quarters and talked to few people as the U.S.S. Republic.

One day when she was sitting in the garden a young officer name Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley walked into the garden when she was there and he asked if he might join her and she said, " It's a garden and you are welcome."

The young officer told her, " I am Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley. I am returning to Star Base 12 from Rigel 7 where Kudos the governor murdered my family."  Lt.Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

Karissa looks at Lt. Kevin Riley and tells her, "I am sorry for your loss. I loss my father and mother as a result of radiation poisoning on Planet Earth. They suffered the worse death."  

"I am a student at Star Fleet Academy." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

" I am head for Star Base 12 where I will attend Star Fleet Academy ." Karissa tells him.

"What will you be studying?" Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks.

"Medical Science." Karissa answers, "and you?"

"Double major of Navigation and Engineering." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley states.

"What is Star Base 12 like?" Karissa asks.

"Star Base 12 simulates Planet Earth atmosphere." Lt.Kevin Thomas Riley states, "There are forests, woods, and man made lakes." 

"Star Base 12 is divided into territories governed by Dukes that are direct descendants of England and Scotland, and the main Duke is Lord Charles Andrrew Howard that is direct descendants of Lord John Howard, 1st Duke of Norfolk in England." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

"Lord Patrick William fled  Pre-Worn torn Planet from England with his wife, Lady Penelope and he settled on Star Base 12 and named Norfolk Territory after his beloved Norfolk, England." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley exclaims.

"What I understand is the 6 families board the  U.S.S. Excalibur and it took them five years to arrive on Star Base 12 and when they arrived they all claimed a different part of Star Base 12 and that is the history." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley.

"The current Duke has five children and all of them are grown and their remaining son is 20 years old and unmarried the last time I checked." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley states.

"I know Lord Andrew Charles Howard, the youngest son but I prefer the middle son, Lord Patrick William Howard, but I would stay away from the eldest son, Lord Charles Andrew Howard III." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley explains.

"Aren't there any average people there Lt. Riley?" Karissa asks.

"There are plenty of non-aristocrats living on Star Base 12 in the country side and in town. " Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley states.

"Norfolk Territory is the biggest territory on Star Base 12." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her.

"I willl be 19 years old when I arrive on Star Base 12." Karissa tells him, " I am only 15 years old now and I will be living out at Madame's Boarding House."

"I am 19 years old now Karissa, but I had to put my education on hold due to Kudos executing my family as a means of population control." Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley tells her, " The butcher couldn't feed everyone so he has his government kill innocent families and my father, mother, and sister were three of his innocent victims." 

"Kevin Thomas Riley you have to believe Karma will get him at the end. She has his number and as long as you keep them in your heart they will never die." Karissa explains.

"Why don't you remember them on Samhain and say a prayer, light a candle for them and keep their memory alive?" Karissa asks.

"What is Samhain Karissa?" Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asks.

"Samhain is Gaelic for "Summer ends" and Samhain is the Pagan New Year and Day of  Remembering your love ones and ancestors." Karissa explains.

"Believe it or not Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley you were created out a thousand loves." Karissa states, "You would not be here if your father and mother didn't have you, and they wouldn't be here unless your grandparents hadn't had them and so forth." 

"Is it similar to All Soul's Day Karissa?" Lt Kevin Thomas Riley asks.

"You might say so but All Soul's Day is on November 1, one day after Samhain." Karissa tells her.

"Losing your family to a merciless butcher isn't easy Lt.Kevin Thomas Riley, but you were born for a reason and whatever deity you believe in has a plan for your life." Karissa explains.

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley looks at Karissa and asks, "Why aren't you living on campus?"

"I don't care to live on campus." Karissa explains, " Madame's Boarding House as a garden and I will have my own suite and three meals a day." 

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley and Karissa start to talk to each other every day and they spend the day in the garden and they find out they have a lot in common with each other.

It is the first friendship that Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell has formed with anyone since she boarded the United Starship Republic.

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley and Karissa are seen together in the recreational room and the dining room on the United Starship Republic.

The journey is long and drawn out but Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley and Karissa have formed a friendship that will last a lifetime.
