The Duchesses of Star Base 12 tells the story of the different Duchess-Consort and Duchess Regent on Star Base 12 starting with Lady Penelope Devereux and ending with Lady Athena Isabella Howard.
There three young men on Star Base 12 that wanted Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell. She had traveled from War Torn Planet Earth to relocate on Star Base 12 and she wasn't aware what would be waiting for her when she arrived on Star Base 12.
When she left War Torn Planet Earth she was only 15 years old and abandoned by her relatives after her father and mother died of radiation poisoning.
When she arrived on Star Base 12 escorted by Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley that was returning from Rigel Seven from losing his family to Kodos the Executioner.
Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley asked Lord Richard William Carey to see Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell safely to Madame's Boarding House that was located on his territory and he helped Karissa climb into Lord Carey's carriage and he watched it pull away.
While Lord Richard William Carey and Karissa were heading towards Madame's Boarding House Lord Richard Carey started to talk to Karissa and she really didn't pay much attention as she was tired from the long journey.
Lord Richard William Carey was 23 years old and looking for a bride as he hadn't found anyone since he lost the first woman that he ever loved to another man.
Lord Richard William Carey was the great-grandson of Lord Frederick William Howard through his daughter, Lady Sophia Charlotte Howard that married Lord George Carey and their son, Lord Robert that was born in June of 2250.
Lord Richard William Carey while they were driving toward Madame's Boarding House told Karissa if she ever needed anything to let Madame Valios know and he would see that she received it.
Lord Richard William Carey kept looking at Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell as he drove her to Madame's Boarding House.
He kept looking at her, but she had no interest in Lord Carey and when they drove up to Lady Valois manor he helps Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell to climb out of the carriage and he carried her suitcases up the stairs and knocked on the door and Madame Valois opened the door and she was surprised to find Lord Carey standing outside of her "Good Day Monsieur Carey."
"Good Day Madame Valois. I brought your new border to your home. This is Cadet Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell. She just recently arrived to Star Base 12." Lord Carey explains.
"I have been waiting for Mademoiselle Karissa to arrive Monsieur Carey." Madame Valois tells Lord Carey.
"Madame Valois if Mademoiselle Karissa needs anything please let me know and I will see that she receives it." Lord Carey tells her.
"I will let you know Monsieur Carey." Madame Valois tells Lord Carey and Lord Carey bids Karissa and Madame Valois a farewell and he walks down the stairs and looks at Karissa before he steps back into his carriage.
"Welcome Mademoiselle Karissa. It seems that Lord Carey is attracted to you. He is considered a good catch." Madame Valois tells her.
"Thank you but I am not interested in any of the aristocrats here." Karissa answers.
"I have your suite prepared and you will find it quite comfortable. We do have some rules to follow. No gentlemen are allowed in your suite. They may visit in the drawing room, living room, courtyard, and garden and have meals with you." Madame Valois explains.
"I don't know any gentlemen here anyway." Karissa answers.
"There are other young women here, but they attend the Finishing School." Madame Valois tells her.
"Lady Angelique , Lady Josette , and Lady Isabella Collins, along with Lady Victoria Scott and Lady Rachel Churchill here as borders." Madame Valois explains.
"The Collin sisters are minor aristocrats and they are the daughters of Lord Joshua and Elizabeth Collins of Collinswood Manor. and Lady Victoria Scott is just from minor aristocrat family as is Lady Rachel Churchill." Madame Valois explains.
"I am sure that you will meet them at dinner time as they are attending classes at the Finishing School in the day." Madame Valois explains.
"I am sure that you will want to freshen up after your long journey." Madame asks.
"Yes Ma'am. I could use a good bath and to change my clothes." Karissa answers and she takes her suitcases upstairs and Madame shows her to her suite.
"You have a nice view of the garden and courtyard." Madame tells her and she leaves Karissa to unpack her belongings and she opens up the door to her balcony and she stands outside of terrace.

Karissa Elizabeth Ann stands outside of her terrace looking out onto the courtyard and she sees a manor kitty corner and wonders who lives in the manor and when Madame comes to check on her she asks. "Who lives in the magnificent manor kitty corner from you Madame?"
"Mademoiselle Karissa. That is the home of Lord Richard William Carey, our Duke of this territory. He is 24 years old, and he is just one of four great-grandsons of Lord Frederick William Howard the 2nd Duke of Norfolk Territory. It is the biggest territory within Star Base 12." Madame Valois explains.
"The current Duke of Norfolk Territory is Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR and he has two sons that are married but the youngest son, Lord Andrew Charles Howard is looking for his bride too." Madame explains, " I think that Lord Richard William Carey is the nicest of out of Lord Frederick William Howard great-grandsons." Madame tells her.
"I know Lord Andrew Charles Howard as well as Lord Thomas William Howard, Duke of Northumberland Territory and Lord Frederick WIlliam Howard III is unmarried as well." Madame explains.
"Lord Frederick William Howard has no title or property." Madame explains, "His grandfather married without the consent of his father and he was disinherited and it passed onto Lord Andrew Charles Howard's grandfather, Lord Charles Andrew Howard SR."
"Lord Richard William Carey is a true gentleman, but I can't speak for Lord Andrew Charles Howard." Madame says with a laugh..
Karissa looks over and she sees a tall, good looking gentleman standing outside his manor and she looks at Madame and Madame tells her " It's the gentleman that brought you here Mademoiselle Karissa.

Lord Richard William Carey looks toward Madame's Boarding House and he sees the young woman that he gave a ride to Madame's and he watches her and thinks of her.
Lord Richard William Carey wonders if he has found his bride at last, or will she be taken away from some other gentleman.
So far Karissa hasn't met his cousin, Lord Andrew Charles Howard that will meet Karissa eventually and Lord Richard William Carey and he will become rivals for Karissa's affection but it's like a Chest game and who will checkmate whom.
