Chapter 25

Schlatt was standing next to the Lmantree. He was talking quietly to someone. It was Quackity. "I don't care Alex. I don't care." Schlatt said. It became clear that he was too drunk to be coherent. I was almost to the prime path when I stepped on a branch and it made a loud noise. Quackity looked up and saw me. Schlatt began to turn around but Quackity distracted him.

"That doesn't matter, you can't keep making bullshit laws." I hear Quackity scramble to say. The second I was far enough away for my movements to be unheard I started running. I ran as hard and fast as I could to Sapnaps house. I opened the door and got inside hurriedly. I took off my armour and set it on the table. I looked at the clock and it was 5am. I went back to the bedroom and carefully got on the bed. Sapnap rolled over to face me.

"Hey beautiful." He said softly in a raspy low voice.

"Go back to sleep." I tell him. I got under the blankets and snuggled into him. It didn't take long before I fell asleep. For the first time in years it was Sapnap who woke me up. He tried to shake me awake but I pulled myself closer to him and put my face in his neck.

"Look who wants another hour of sleep now." He says laughing.

"Sap, one more hour please." I say. He laughs at me.

"Okay but it's almost 8." He says. I didn't care. Sapnap played with my hair and rubbed my back. He let me sleep for a bit longer. After about an hour he gently shook me awake. "[y/n] wake up." He said softly. I sat up and looked at him for a second.

"What time is it?" I ask.

"Eight thirty." He responds. I was sore. Sore from all of the training I'd done with techno. I still had to start with Dream today. He rearranged a piece of my hair behind my ear.

"Nick," I say quietly.

"Yea?" Sapnap replies. My thoughts were clouded and jumbled. I wasn't thinking about what I was saying.

"If war starts, can you promise we will stay together?" I say. I silently scolded myself for sounding so desperate.

"Of course." He responds. He pulled me into his arms and kissed my cheek. "Are you ready to train today?" He asks.

"I'm nervous." I respond.

"Don't be. You have me, and I don't think Dream will be too cruel. Not on your first day at least." He says. I pulled away for a second. I kissed him then fell back into his arms. Neither of us wanted to wake up. I would've stayed there for another hour at least but there was a knock at the door. I got up and answered it. Sapnap groaned. I answered the door, I don't really know who I was expecting but it wasn't Quackity. Shit I forgot about this morning. Quackity saved me. Sapnap came out of the room a second later.

"Hey big Q." He says.

"Hi, I need to talk to [y/n]" Quackity says.

"Give me a second." I tell him. I changed clothes really quickly, put my hair into a ponytail and put on my armor.

"Okay where do you want to go?" I ask.

"Lets just go into the other room." Quackity says. I lead him to the guest room and we sit down.

"What happened this morning?" He asks.

"Quackity words cannot express how grateful I am to you for what you did." I begin to say.

"Anytime [y/n], but if its not to much to ask I want to know why you were sneaking around this morning." He says. I had to think. I couldn't tell him I went to see wilbur and tommy.

"I snuck Tubbo out and we spent the night at Ranboos. We didn't mean to fall asleep but we did. Tubbo didn't want to get in trouble, so I snuck him back into lmanburg." I say confidently. Quackity tilts his head. "Please don't take this out on him. It was my fault I take full responsibility." I add. He definitely bought it. I knew the right tone to use to get him to believe me. I hated being manipulative, but I'd say it was called for.

"Thanks for telling me." He says he turns to leave but before he opens the door I open my mouth.

"Why was schlatt yelling at you?" I begin to ask. Then I realize I need to mind my own business. "You don't have to answer that actually. I was just curious. It's none of my business sorry." Quackity turns around and looks at me. Then he looks around the room.

"Actually, can I rant to you about something?" He asks.

"Of course we're friends right?" I say. He nods.

"I'm sick of Schlatt. If I could I would take back the entire deal. I would turn over presidency to Wilbur and Tommy. He's so manipulative too. He purposely pisses me off then he knows exactly how to get me to calm down and make me think he cares. In the moment I always think its genuine. It's not until I am at least in another building that I realize he doesn't give a shit." Quackity says.

"Thats horrible. I'm actually so sorry." I say. I meant it.

"No- I suppose I deserve it. This is what I wanted after all. Its just. . ." he hesitates. I touch his arm gently to let him know its ok. "He demoted me. He demoted me from co- president to fucking secretary. I couldn't do anything about it. I just had to sit there and take it." He says. "No one takes me seriously." Quackity looked like he was about to cry.

"Do you want me to go kill him?" I joke. He smiles.

"I know you're joking when you offer, but I'm not when I say yes." He responds. "I'm so over it. I can't even protect the people I care about from his cruelty. He treats poor Fundy like a slave. I'm sick of it." Quackity says. I reach out my arms and motion to him for a hug. I knew he needed it. He took it. "Thanks for listening [y/n]. It's nice to know someone cares." He says.

"Of course dude. I'm always here if you need to talk. I mean it too. I know people say that kind of thing a lot but if you actually are on the verge of a breakdown or just need to rant like this don't hesitate to come to me." I tell him. He nods.

"Thanks [y/n]. You don't have any idea how much that means right now." He says. We both leave the room and he waves goodbye then walks out the front door.

"What was that about?" Sapnap asks with a mouth full of scone. I looked at the plate beside him. He'd brought me over a blueberry scone. It's the little things that count. I walked over and picked it up. "You gonna tell me?" He asks. I shake my head lightly.

"I will kill Schlatt. I don't know or care when but I know someday I am going to kill that man."
