"Do you wanna stay the night?"
Famous last words before hookups turn into something more...
You're probably just overthinking. But, when you and Spencer talked about this dynamic previously, both of you agreed it was solely sex, nothing more. Which also meant not staying the night. Staying the night obviously leads to being intimately close to one another. Which— in the words of Spencer Reid—with post-sex endorphins, can lead to unknown territory.
The biggest problem here isn't about the potential feelings this could lead to, but the fact that you already have feelings. You aren't in love with Spencer, but you do have feelings that are deeper than just something sexual.
You're sure Spencer doesn't feel the same way.
Can you really blame him though? This is just supposed to be sex, that's the sole purpose behind this relationship. And why would the Spencer Reid want to date you?
This man is practically perfect and deserving of nothing but the best girl in the world. You just aren't that. There really hasn't ever been anything spectacular about you. You're just some person with childhood issues you still haven't dealt properly with. At this point, that's the only intriguing thing about you.
And well, Dr. Spencer Reid is an accomplished genius with an IQ of 187 and three PhDs. Not to mention, he has a huge heart and is so kind. He's saved so many people and exceeds the expectations of any typical person, especially you.
So, sorry if you don't believe he would ever want more than a sexual relationship with you.
But all this nonsense doesn't change the fact that you do have feelings for him. Over time though, those feelings will fade. Right? It's not like they can linger there forever if the other person won't ever have them back.
Right?
"Are you sure? I don't mind, but..."
"Y/N, it's fine. It's late and we have work in the morning. It would be stupid to make you drive home now."
That doesn't really make sense though, since you've driven home multiple times before.
"Fine. I'll set up on the couch?" you say awkwardly, turning around.
"Wait! You can stay in the bedroom with me if you want. I don't want you to have to sleep on the couch when the bed is far more comfortable." Spencer has a calm, reassuring smile on his face.
Fuck it. You can sleep in the same bed as him just this once. It's not like one night can further some feelings you already have.
"Okay," you say hesitantly. "But I have to run outside to grab my go-bag. I have a change of clothes for the morning in it."
"Alright. Do you want something to drink? I can make you tea?" Spencer heads into the kitchen, opens a cabinet, and pulls out a metal canister of tea. He walks it over to you. "It's one that helps you sleep. It has chamomile and valerian in it that create sedative effects on your body. The lavender helps me relax before bed sometimes." He pauses.
Did he... No, there's no way he'd remember.
"I know you said how you have been having trouble sleeping lately and that when you aren't in your own bed it's worse."
Oh. He did remember. He can remember pretty much everything, but still!
You are definitely a little love-deprived that him remembering that detail makes you feel so cared about. It probably helps that the person that remembered is one you feel things for.
