You wake up to the sensation of the sun hitting your skin. Rolling over to look at your clock, you see it's 11 am. It's later than you thought you would sleep until, but it feels nice after waking up so early all week.
After coming home from Spencer's last night, you fell right asleep. You haven't slept well this past week, probably because you're thinking too much about work and everything new in your life.
You head into the kitchen to gather food to make brunch.
As you're eating, you go on your phone and look through your messages, seeing a picture of your niece back home. Your heart feels a little heavy seeing her face. You miss her. You always did so much with her, and she loved spending time with you. It is still such an adjustment moving hours away from your family.
As you clean up, you remember Rossi's dinner tomorrow night. You also remember that it means you should dress nice, and you have basically nothing to wear. You got rid of a lot of your fancier clothes when you moved here and haven't taken the chance to get some new ones.
You decide to text Emily and see if she wants to shop with you for a dress for tomorrow.
After 15 minutes, Emily texts you back and agrees to come with you. You let her know your address and tell her to come to your place so you can drive together.
You haven't really spent time with Emily alone, so it could be fun to do something with her today. Plus, you don't want to go alone. You like being around people, so you are happy that you have made so many friends at work so far. It keeps you out of your own head.
After you get dressed and ready for the day, you do your makeup. Just as you're almost done, you hear a knock on your door.
You look through the peephole, seeing Emily.
"Hey!" You both say at the same time and reach for a hug.
"You ready to shop?" she asks, eagerly smiling.
"Yes, definitely. I'm long overdue! Let me just quickly finish my makeup and then we can go." You smile. "You can wait in my bedroom while I'm getting ready since my bathroom is in there."
A few minutes pass, and as you're applying mascara, you hear Emily call your name from your bedroom.
"Hey...Y/N?"
"Yeah? What's up?"
"Someone just called you and then left you a text. Do you want your phone?" she asks you.
It's probably just your mom. She always texts you after you miss her call. She must be checking up on you.
"No, that's okay. Can you just read me what the text says?" You just want to continue what you're trying to do.
"Sure! It's from Spencer. It says, 'Hey. You doing something later? ;)'"
Shit.
"Y/N! Are you hooking up with Spencer?!" She yells excitedly, and you nearly want to die at this moment.
"God, no! Why would you think that?" you say, trying to make her think she's reaching.
"I don't know, maybe the fact that he's asking if you're busy later, with a WINK!" She laughs, making you realize you just dug yourself into a hole.
Come on, now is not the time to be a dumbass.
"Nooo, definitely not! We have just become good friends... I've been hooking up with that same Nate guy from Monday. So I told Spencer about him and he's just curious if I'm getting lucky again tonight!" you lie, with a scared shitless look on your face. Good thing Emily can't see you right now.
