It's now Friday.
After coming home from the two-day-long case on Wednesday night, there was another case yesterday. Luckily it was local and quick, solved the same day. Today, everyone has been in the office doing paperwork. It has been a long first week, but also a very good one. You have experienced so many new things in the past five days. Somehow, despite the chaos, you are so grateful for having each and every one of these opportunities. Most importantly, you are grateful for the people who have been by your side, making you feel so welcome.
Things between you and Spencer have been the same: tension-filled conversations and interactions, but neither of you have had the time or energy after work to act on it.
You pack up your things at your desk, once again, getting ready to go home. It's Friday and you have no plans.
Back home, your Friday nights were always packed full, and honestly, kind of chaotic. A majority of it was during college: lots of partying and clubbing. It was an experience for sure, but definitely not your crowd anymore. You're a 26-year-old FBI agent now, not the same college girl who lived to get a little too fucked up. Now, you still like to have a good time, just not nearly as often nor as intense.
Your thought process is interrupted by a loud voice standing in the center of the bullpen. "Team! Sunday, dinner at my place. 6:00 sharp." Rossi accentuates that last word to Morgan. You have realized Morgan tends to be a little late to most things...
"I'm going to be making my famous Carbonara!" Rossi announces with a smile.
"You know none of us can turn down your invites," Emily chimes in whilst laughing.
"Of course not. That's why I didn't give an option!" Rossi turns to you. "Y/N! You're of course invited as well. What do you say?"
"I'd love to. Sounds like a good time," you reply, smiling back. You catch eyes with Spencer next to you, who is wearing a pleased expression.
What is it about him?
"Awesome. Be prepared to be wowed Y/N!" Rossi says to you and then looks at the rest of the team. "I will see you all on Sunday! Don't contact me until then. I don't need to see your faces in this room again until Monday." With that, he makes his way out of the room.
"You are in for a treat," Spencer winks at you as he gets up to leave, Morgan following behind him.
Well, you aren't exactly sure what he means by that, but okay. It's not to say you are opposed to whatever he's implying...
You brush it off and get up, shutting down your computer. You say goodbye to Emily and JJ before leaving the bullpen.
As you get on the elevator alone, you feel content. For the first time in your life, you are not craving a certain thing. You are more than okay with how your life is going.
Everything is great.
. . .
After getting home and relaxing for a bit, you walk down the street to a café you passed the other day. You have heard good things about it and need something for dinner.
When you go inside, you immediately love it. It's super cozy with lots of greenery and cute tables. There is soft music playing in the background and only four or five other customers, so it's pretty calm.
You order at the front counter and the man lets you know you can sit down and he'll bring the food to you. You find a small table towards the back and sit down there, opening up the book you brought. You wanted to relax when you ate and this seems like a good place to do that.
