March 19th 2008 Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas
Caesar's Palace? Really?
Aria slumped at the table, the chair beside her empty- no surprise there.
Up there, Rhodey babbled on obliviously. Aria was on her feet before his speech had even finished. Her heels clicked up the steps and onto the stage, as she plastered an easy smile on her face.
"Thanks, Aria, you're a lifesaver.", he whispered, as she took the award from him
"Yeah, I get that a lot," she muttered. He chuckled and patted her on the back, as she made a show of examining the glass trophy, knowing that it probably wouldn't even make it back to Malibu with them. "Wow, look at this!" she beamed easily at the audience, "Uh, well, I'm not Tony Stark. Just in case the lack of goatee didn't give it away. I am a Stark though, so... close enough." The audience laughed. She twisted her ring around, "On behalf of not only my father, but the Stark family as a whole, I can say what an honour it is to receive this prestigious award," she squinted to the back of the room, to read the banner advertising whatever this ceremony was, "To win an Apogee Award, well that's quite some honour. The way he got here is the same reason he isn't here," she forced a laugh, "You know, I always say, the best thing about my dad is also the worst- he's always working!" she tried to ward off the bitter scowl that threatened to creep onto her face, "So, from me, my family, and all of us at Stark Industries- thank you!"
The second she was free of the glare of the stage lights her face fell. Rhodey rushed over to her, shaking his head, "I don't even know what I expected."
"I am going to murder him," she seethed, heading straight for the casino.
Rhodey chased after her, until she was stopped by a tall bouncer stepping into her path, "You got ID?"
