3rd person POV

Days had passed since Alex's small party, the ghost group hanging out like they always did. Julie had holed herself in her room, as Nick was still missing. There were posters hung up all around town; A constant reminder of his absence.

The older girl felt for her sister, knowing her almost exact feelings. Almost. When Elizabeth had been trapped at the Hollywood Ghost Club, she feared that she would never see her friends or her family again, but truth was, Makenzie would never feel the way Julie did.

Liz knew that her friends and family were safe, in fact, she was the Nick in that situation. Julie had absolutely no clue where he had gone. He was there one minute, and then he just.. wasn't.

The feeling was almost torturous and Julie was hardly able to drag herself to the kitchen, the girl bringing days worth of food just to avoid it.

Alex had also taken refugee in the loft, only coming down to pound away at his drums. Willie's disappearance had taken a toll on him. The sad mood had everyone down.

Reggie began spending more time with Ray, Luke distracting himself by aimlessly strumming his guitar, and Elizabeth tapping her pencil against her song book. Liz had taken this time to write a song, something that she hadn't done in a while.

As awful as it was, Liz and Luke had drifted. Luke had been completely out of the loop, and Elizabeth has been doing her best to hold everyone together. Eventually, all rocks crumble and Elizabeth had began cracking.

She figured that maybe a song could help Julie and Luke. Julie had always used singing as her security blanket and music made Luke feel alive again, Liz was practically killing two birds with one stone.

She wrote the final lyric, shaking out her hand, which has somehow fallen asleep.

She stood up, walking through her door, and beginning to knock on her sisters.

Julie groaned on the other side, "Go away." Elizabeth ignored her demand, stepping through anyway. Julie sighed at the image of her sister, "Hi, Liz."

"You alright there?" Elizabeth asked her, already knowing the answer.

"I could be better." Julie said, a small smile playing on her lips. Her sister always made her feel just a bit better.

Elizabeth took a seat on the young girls bed, "I know that things are rough, but I have something that might help everyone out." She held the paper out to Julie, who took it graciously, "I wrote it for Luke, hoping that you'd sing it to him for me. Music lifts everyone's spirits so.."

Julie's mouth spread wider, her model-like gap peeking through. Julie had needed this right now, agreeing quickly.

Within an hour, everyone had been rounded up and was sat on the couch of the garage.

Elizabeth stood up, facing the group, "Okay, so I wrote this song because we're all a bit down right now and I was hoping that this would help a little. I also may have written it for Luke, but that's not the point. Julie's singing it, so yeah, that's all. Take it away, Jules."

Elizabeth squeezed herself between Luke and Alex as Julie began softly strumming a guitar and singing the lyrics.

"Same lips red, same eyes green
Same white shirt, couple more new tunes
But it's not you and it's not me
Tastes so sweet, looks so real
Sounds like something that I used to feel
But I can't touch what I see

We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

The fridge light washes this room white
Moon dances over your good side
And this was all we used to need
Tongue-tied like we've never known
Telling those stories we already told
'Cause we don't say what we really mean

We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

We're not who we used to be
We're not who we used to be
We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me
We're not who we used to be
We don't see what we used to see
We're just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty
Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat

I'm just trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat"

By the end of the song, Alex and Reggie had gotten up to dance together, and Elizabeth and Luke had their hands wrapped around each other. Julie had a smile on her face, the familiar comfort of singing filling her senses.

This right here, was a reminder that they were going to be all right. They had each other and they had music, all they would ever need. But Willie and Nick would have to wait another day, wherever they were.
