The sun gleamed into the room through the bedroom window. I groaned, ready to roll over to an empty bed, and bury my head in a pillow. As I tried, I felt something stopping me. I smiled at the sight. She was lying there, watching me with pupils dilated. It made my lips curl into a bright smile. "Your cute Norris when you sleep," she said, kissing me a good morning. "Only for you baby." I said, reaching for her lips once more. "I wish we could stay in bed all day love, but you got a track to drive on, and I've got a parent who I need to introduce to you. She's dying to meet you."
"You bought her? So what happened whilst I've been away?" I asked, a smile on my face. I was super happy for her to get to know her own family.
"Ahhhh, not a lot. Just thought I'd better meet my mum and get to know her. She's actually a very nice lady, and we have a lot in common actually. Anyway mister, get your ass out of bed, don't try and changed the subject. We need to get to somewhere called a track.". I sighed knowing the truth, dragging myself out of bed. I felt full of energy today, and I put it down to her. She was the reason why I was happy at the moment.
We went to her mum's room. "She's gonna love you Lando." I bloody hope so, I thought. My thoughts were interrupted as the door flew open. I saw this women, fairly short, about my height, standing there. She was dressed in a black hoodie, with the McLaren logo on, as well as some black jeans. "Sophia, thought you'd never swing by!" she spoke, giving my girlfriend a swift hug. "We wouldn't come past and not bring you to the track mum, we're not that mean!" she said, her mum and I giggling. "Ahhhh you must be Lando, so lovely to meet you! Heard so much about you already," she said, hugging me tightly. "I hope only good things!" I said, causing any tension, if any, to collapse around me. "Right it's time to go, you ready?" Sophia asked. The vibe between everyone today just seemed a really nice one, and I was living for this sort of energy. We got downstairs, to see Charlotte, Helen and Jon talking. They greeted us, and Helen began to smirk. "Good morning Lando, you look a bit more happy than you were yesterday morning." I thought back to yesterday morning. God, I was awful. Bags under my eyes filled the void between my other facial features and my eyes. I was moody all day, I just hated being alone all the time. "Seemed our plan worked well then," said Sophia, all 4 of them fist-bumping each other. I then heard the familiar shouts for Sophia's name, as George, Alex and Charles hurdled towards us. They all hugged Sophia tight, as she began to introduce them to her mum. Her mum then spoke: "It's so wonderful to know that Sophia has built such good friendships with you all.", smiling at everyone. George then corrected her. "Sophia isn't our friend, she's family. We're all family in this circus!", making her mum smile even more broadly, as Charlotte, Jon and Helen nodded in agreement. "Why are we just standing here, let's get racing!".
*few hours later*
It's been a long ass day at the track, but I felt happier. All the interviewers were asking where this sudden uplifting mood came from, having seen what I had looked and felt like the past few races. I just said my best friend gave me motivation, as I watched her in the corner of my eye, talking to her mum under the lights of Bahrain. Her face glowed in the light, as the moon rose above our heads. After the interviews, Sophia's mum left with George, as me and Sophia wanted to stay in the paddock. We decided we would walk the track, and at turn 1 we layed down on top of my McLaren jacket, which was way too big for me anyway, and we looked up to the beautifully clear sky, stars glimmering down. She put her head on my chest, as I stroked her forehead with my warm hands. She looked up with a grin, until it began to fade when she met my eyes, cupping my face in her cheeks, as she pulled me in. Once Sophia had pulled away, our foreheads came together, and she smiled. "Been waiting to do that all day," she whispered. "Me too, after the weekend we'll do something about it to move it along, deal?". She could only nod, as we pulled in once more. She layed on my chest for a few mins, but her body began to shiver. It's warm in Bahrain, if there's no wind. I pulled over my hoodie, which she gladly took. She looked adorable in it, the oversized nature of the clothing making her seem so soft and vulnerable. I asked if I could take a picture and post it on Instagram, to which she agreed right away.

landonorris: Hi guys, I owe you an explanation. Of course I've had lots of messages and questions in the media as to why I had a sudden change of mood. I was struggling where I was mentally and physically, but this angel of a human helped me, even coming to Bahrain to surprise me with a visit to make me happier. Even when we were karting together, you wouldn't hesitate to make me laugh when you could see I was feeling down about anything. I couldn't be more grateful for everything she does for me. You also taught me that it's ok not be to ok sometimes, and that I should always talk to someone about anything that's bothering me. I love you my best friend, I don't deserve a single inch of the love and support you've given me over the year(s) and I hope you can see I'm trying to put the same love and support that you give me, into you as well. #bestfriends
