One word is all it takes

Sophia's POV:

I looked back to the girls, who were stood smiling at me, urging me to walk down the velvet carpet. It was pretty difficult, with the sand swallowing the heels as I walked. I began to see faint silhouettes, and some of the guys came into my view. George pointed in a direction for me to follow, as the girls followed behind, linking arms with their partners. I kept following the carpet, as I approached a cliff face, and I started regretting wearing heels. I looked up to hear faint music and a small fuzz of light around the top, as I began trek up. Once I got to the top, I saw him sat there, a little table set up with poles holding up fairy lights. I just stood in the shadows for a while, enjoying the beauty of Lando in a fancy suit. He was playing with his ring, which made me chuckle lightly, catching the attention of him to face my way.  He also laughed lightly, as he stood up and made his way over to me, as I finally stepped out into the light. I saw him looking up and down at my beauty before pecking my lips, as he took my hand in his and lead me to the table. "You look stunning mi amour," he spoke, as his fingers intertwined in mine across the table. A unfamiliar man approached the table, handing us laminated cards with a list of delicious foods, as my eyes scanned the menu. We eventually ordered, as the waiter poured an icy cold drink of champagne. We ate our dishes, whilst laughing and reminiscing of the past year. "Do you remember when I lost that bet back in Spa?" I smiled, looking back on it. "Yep, I remember it like yesterday. I did well that day to be in the top 5. It was a good weekend overall for us as a team." I saw his grin widen, before slowly fading as he put his knife and fork down and reached over to my hand, interlocking our fingers. It was only at this point I realised that he was wearing the promise ring as was I. "Hey look, I guess great minds think alike," I chuckled lightly, as he copied it. "I love you," he randomly said. "I love you too? What have you done?" I smirked, knowing this mans ways of life. "Nothing, just thinking. If you never came to Silverstone would you have ever come back?" I frowned, thinking about it for a few moments. "Not sure, but fate has a funny way of working. And you Mr Norris are the most amazing boyfriend ever." I smiled at him as I spoke these words, our lips touching softly, before parting when the waiter came over and asked for dessert. Me and him were both full from the meal we just endured, but we both had a craving for something sweet, so we opted to share an ice cream sundae.

 After we finished, he grabbed my hand as we walked down to the beach, engulfed in the sunset behind. As we walked, staring out to sea in silence, I felt lando's hand begin to sweat, and he began to figit a bit more.  "What's up?" My voice seemed to break his trance, as he looked at me, just smiling with his eyes. He then pulled my body towards him, as my hands pushed his chest slightly, as he gripped his waist. "Nothing. Actually, ok maybe there is one tiny thing." I looked at him, puzzled, until he sank down, whilst hastily grabbing a box out of his pocket. I didn't even register what was happening, until I saw the glistening silver band resting in the box. My hands made their own way to catch my jaw, which dropped subsequently. I saw his hands shake, as his voice spoke, not quite trusting his voice. 

"Sophia. From the first time we 'met' in the Monaco harbour, you've taken my heart from me. Even a year before we began to talk, I was so annoyed at myself for not asking for your number, but that doesn't matter now. I've loved every single second of my life when I'm with you. You've made me laugh, smile and enjoy my life so much more. I know my parents and sis-" his voice cracked slightly, as he sharply inhaled to collect himself. Tears were streaming down both of our faces, as I fidgeted with the 'L' on my neck, dangling by the silver chain. "I know my parents will love for you to be their daughter-in-law. I know my sisters would die for you to be their sister-in-law, and Olli would have another one of us to deal with." We both smiled and laughed through our bloodshot eyes. "The point is, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I was quick to nod, as I whispered yes. He was quickly to embrace me, smearing his tears over my neck. He pulled back to look into my eyes. His were still hazy, but the emerald eyes were visible, as I wiped a tear falling down his face, cupping his face into my hands. Lando grabbed my hand, sliding the silver band onto my finger, as I admired it more. He was quick to meet my lips with a deep passionate kiss, as we saw the others run over towards us, embracing us. We stayed up for drinks and watched the sun set, as a fire started. Eventually, we all went off to bed, as I tucked under the covers, lando following suit. He opened his arms, as I layed onto his toned chest, admiring the band on my finger. "I love you." I eventually said, as I could feel his smile on my face. "I love you too, soon-to-be Mrs Norris."
