Chapter 5: Why Did This Happen?!

Charles

After we finished burning the bodies, we decided to go out for a run.

We stopped at Walmart to get some more things. I parked the car as near as I could to the entrance, just to shorten the walking.

As we entered, a few walkers spotted us and slumped towards us. "I got this." I said gripping my machete.

I swung at the walkers heads and their heads went rolling while their bodies fell limp.

"First we need to get as many plastic bags as you can, but make sure you get two at a time, to put a bag inside the other." I said as we started to walk over to the cash registers.

We grabbed bags and went our different ways.

Taylor

I went into Aisle 4 to get some granola bars for everyone. Luckily, there was still some left. I shoved them into one of my bags and went into Aisle 5.

I saw a cardboard cutout of a zombie and chuckled to myself. "Never joke about the apocalypse." I said to myself.

I grabbed some stuff for the girls as well. 'I'm such a gentleman.'

The last aisle I went to was jewelry. Don't ask me why I went there, I just did...

I looked at the shelves and saw something that caught my eye. It was a charm bracelet about the zombie apocalypse...

I chuckled to myself and shoved all the bracelets into my last bag. I figured the group might like it...

Gilinsky

I went into Aisle 14 and grabbed some drinks, plastic bottles obviously.

I went back to the cash register and crouched in front of it, searching for candy bars. I didn't find much but I found a couple of Crunch candy bars.

I went to Aisle 20, which just had toys. My jaw dropped. It was fully-stocked.

I know what your thinking. 'Jack, why would you be shocked that there's an aisle still full of toys?'

And my answer to that question is, I don't really know why. I grabbed a couples of horses for Sky and Kaden and stuffed them into my bag. I also got two stuffed animals; a horse and a puppy.

I filled my last bag and went to find the others. They were all standing at the entrance waiting for me to arrive.

"What took you so long?" Cam asked me, curiously. "I was getting some toys for the girls." I said putting the bag full of toys in his face.

"Alright, c'mon lets get back to the prison." Charles said, gesturing us to go to the pick-up truck.

We all put the supplies in the back and we got in the truck.

Sky

"It's taking them a long time for them to come back." I said yawning.

"You need to stay awake. The guys are getting us presents." Em said shaking me gently.

"Really?!?" I said excitedly. "Yeah." She said laughing. "Let's go outside. Its boring in here." She said picking me up. Em grabbed her gun, put it in her boot and walked outside the doors. Aaron followed behind.

When we were outside, the sun shined bright on our faces. "It's been awhile since I've been outside." Em said, blocking the sun from her face.

"Yeah." I said, squinting my eyes. "I'm gonna go get some water." Aaron told us, walking over to one of the blue barrels.
