Chapter 20: Wanting to Start New Things... Isn't So Bad

Hayes

I leaned against the fence and sat on the heated concrete next to Taylor.

"I'm stupid, you know..." I tell him, and I hear him chuckle under his breath.

"Don't worry, it happens." He tells me, and I huff. "It's normal trust me; you're only getting jealous cause you have strong feelings for her."

"I'm gonna go inside." I tell him, and I stand myself up, my feet squishing as I walk across the floor.

I nearly trip once I get inside, but brush it off as if nothing happened.

"I saw that Grier, you not slick." Lyn told me, and walked to the kitchen. I felt my face heat up and I laughed.

I stopped laughing and I smiled to myself.

I walked into the kitchen and saw that Lyn was making a Nutella sandwich...

"What are you doing?" I asked as I approached her. "Making a sandwich, duh." She paused at she put the other slice on top, finishing it. "Who wouldn't pack Nutella..." She said, focusing on her sandwich. "I saved it in my bag ever since..."

I laughed, took half and ran away in some random direction.

"Hayes!" She whined as she ran after me. She chased me outside and we ended up back in the pool.

But before we jumped into the pool, I shoved the half of the sandwich in my mouth.

Once we surfaced, Lyn spotted me and gave me a glare.

Everyone saw us and laughed. Lyn huffed and got out of the dirty pool.

I pulled myself out of the pool and swallowed the chewed up sandwich I shoved in my mouth.

"Tastes like, cake." I said to myself and chuckled. I ended up getting bored so I decided to walk around.

When I went inside, I saw that Meri, Kaden and Sky were playing with her horses.

I approached the couch and sat on the armrest.

"Meri, where've you been?" I asked suspiciously. "Playing with Sky and Kaden." She said, still paying attention to her horse.

"But, Charles wanted me to tell you something though." She said making her horse running around. "What?" I asked suspiciously.

"Good luck with what you got going on."

Carter

I got out of the pool and grabbed my towel.

I dried my hair and put the towel around my neck. I went inside and sat on one of the stools in the kitchen.

"What's wrong with you?" Lyn asked, eating her newly-made Nutella sandwich. "Nothing." I said chuckling. She laughed with her hand over her mouth.

"Yeah you better do that." I told her and she laughed even more. "Lyn! Swallow!" Hayes warned. I laughed and so did she. She swallowed and continued laughing.

"Never do that again... I, almost died." She said breathing heavily with a smile. "Then don't eat around us." She rolled her eyes and giggled a bit.

"So what you guys wanna do now?" She asked and drank some water. "I don't know, probably just lay down." I said and yawned for effect.

I did NOT wanna go anywhere.

"We could search for some supplies." Hayes recommended. Lyn nodded.
